It's a tricky path for a rookie. However, he will earn true respect if his intensity results in a better defense and more wins.

A person is recognized as a great leader when they win. Leaders cannot be hypocrites, not suggesting that Downs is that. He does have to "walk the walk" come gametime. That's a lot of pressure to place on himself in his first season so you know he has a great deal of confidence.
