2 2 Dallas Cowboys (10-1)
I think a big part of the Thursday nighter against Green Bay will be which officiating crew is assigned to the game. Various scribes and announcers have described Packers cornerback Al Harris as a "shutdown corner," which is nonsense. He doesn't shut anyone down, he roughs 'em up, and if it'll be the kind of crew that is fairly liberal, then he'll be in decent shape in his battle against T.O., which everyone assumes will take place all over the field. But if it's one of those prissy crews that calls everything tight, Al will get two, maybe three, interference calls and T.O. and Tony Romo will have a big night.

3 3 Green Bay Packers (10-1)
I'm really curious to see if they'll come out with the same run 'n shoot type of thing with which they deviled the Lions. I'm guessing they'll slam No. 25, Ryan Grant, into the Cowboy defense for openers, just as a kibbitz, and then voila! Here come the five wideouts spread across, with Favre snapping off his passes to them in 1.5 seconds, and then the Cowboys will start dropping their big, sleek pass rushers, 6-7 Chris Canty, 6-4 DeMarcus Ware, 6-6 Greg Ellis, 6-3 Anthony Spencer, back into coverage ... look, it's the old Zone Blitz! ... fouling up the passing lanes, batting passes in the air. And then, here they come, faking the drop and rushing all at once, the maniac blitz, trying to bloody Favre's nose. Oh yes, it'll be an orgy of strategy. Final score, Cowboys 31, Pack 27.

So we might be screwed then?

Shouldn't we wait until AFTER the game to whine about the refs?

BTW, this isn't a criticism of Cowboys fans. There's plenty of Packers fans whining about the crew for tomorrow night's game.

Let's see how the game is called before commenting on the refs.

Jerry, you don't know how many opposing team's fans have come here blowing smoke like you are that have left AFTER the game to be never seen again.

Well, if the team excutes the plays like they are suppose to and plays up to their capabilities then we shouldn't have to worry about refs.

Well Harris might be a physical corner but Dallas is physical from top to bottom. How many teams have left after the game carrying their wounded.

Madison with the Giants did the same thing to TO all night long and in the end TO had the last laugh. You can jam him many times but eventually he is going to burn you deep when you get off balance and he breaks the jam.

It is not like TO is some wimpy WR that is going to lose all of those battles!

The thing is, Packs haven't played any team as good as us but we've played against a team that is better than Packers.

Harris will be allowed to tackle TO before the ball is in the air. I have yet to see a flag thrown against a db covering TO this season. They even let players kick him in the head out of bounds while looking right at the foul( Giants game).

Who are the refs for this game, I haven't looked.

I'm pretty sure the NFL doesn't reveal that until the day of the game.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if they did announce beforehand or not. It'll probably be Carey or Hochuli.

They don't. Vegas won't let them. ;)

I thought the history of Doc Z's comments this season would be interesting.

Week 1
7 -- Dallas Cowboys (1-0)
Mock my words, this is the injury that's really gonna hurt them. Nose tackle Jason Ferguson, lost with a torn bicep. Despite their size, those guys are very hard to find.

Week 2
3 7 Dallas Cowboys (2-0)
When something's funny, then it's funny, I'll admit it, even though it cost the team 15 yards. T.O., after catching his 34-yard touchdown with 4:08 left against the Dolphins, put the football up against the goalpost and pretended to be videotaping. The penalty was for using the goalpost as a prop. C'mon, NFL, a full 15 yards is a devastating enough punishment. Don't hit him with a fine, too.

Week 3
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (3-0)
This is a good team, but not a premium package yet. What's needed is a second wideout threat, such as a healthy Terry Glenn (will we see him this season?) and the return of their gifted left corner Terence Newman, who's almost ready.

Week 4
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (4-0)
Here's the statistic that jumped out at me. From the Rams contest: Patrick Crayton, seven catches, 184 yards, TDs of 37 and 54 yards. Until this game he'd been kind of a nondescript wideout. But if this bustout performance is for real, then watch out world. The league's highest scoring offense will be heading into record territory.

Week 5
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (5-0)
OK, let's forget about the Buffalo meltdown. I wrote enough about that the other day. Let's look ahead to 2007's most attractive matchup so far, Cowboys-Patriots. I think New England will open up with multiple wides and test the secondary. I think Dallas will counter by assigning their premier hitter, Roy Williams, mad dog duty on Randy Moss. Double with the cornerback, keep Randy in front of him and then punish him severely when he catches the ball. I saw Green Bay do that to Randy once, with Darren Sharper as the whipper. He knocked Moss groggy, but Randy surprised me that night because he showed he could take the punishment. He was rubber legged at times, but he hung in there and caught his share. If Tony Romo does the interception number again, the contest will be over early, but I don't think it will happen. The line opened at Patriots minus 4 1/2 and I think that's just the way the game will end. New England, 23 1/2, Dallas 19.

Week 6
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (5-1)
Do they go down because of the lopsided New England score? Hell, no. Don't forget, they had a lead in the third quarter. Their pressure system on Brady was good, but they got beat by New England's top bailout guy on the hot reads, Wes Welker. I'd also advise T.O. to keep that popcorn stuff to himself. What it cost the team was a New England club mad enough to score a TD with 19 seconds left. Oh, the way these boys do carry on!

Week 7 (Note This is the week the NYFG jumped from 10 to 4)
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (6-1)
Doesn't there seem to be a rash of great punters this year? Mat McBriar averaged 53.5 on his four kicks against the Vikings. He hit a 50-yarder that went out of bounds on the one, and a 60-yarder that was downed on the nine. The 49ers' Andy Lee has looked terrific, and Sunday, the Raiders-Chiefs game was enlivened by the duel between Shane Lechler and Dustin Colquitt. Brings back memories of Horace Gillom and Glenn Dobbs (anyone remember him?).

Week 8
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (6-1)
Do you know what happened the week after their bye last year? They beat Tennessee, 45-14, for their most lopsided win of the season. Is that why I picked them over the Eagles? No. Why, then? Because I've been too hot on my handicapping this year. I need to show my fans that I, too, can be wrong once in a while. "Are you actually going to let them print that?" asks The Flaming Redhead. Just watch.

Week 9
3 3 Dallas Cowboys (7-1)
Well, Tank Johnson's been activated from his eight-game suspension for stocking an arsenal. And the organization has made it very clear that after three or four more violations they will think very seriously of having a talk with him.

Week 10
2 3 Dallas Cowboys (8-1)
I'm looking three games ahead, to a Nov. 29 Thursday nighter when Green Bay comes to the Big D. Can the Packers win this? "Yes," says Darren Sharper, Minnesota strong safety who just lost to the Pack, as reported by our demon Midwest correspondent, Scoop McGinn. "Favre will be able to attack their corners." Hopefully after they've arrived at the stadium.

Week 11
2 2 Dallas Cowboys (9-1)
I just read a piece that tells us that T.O. is "as happy as I've ever been." See, just a simple soul at heart. Give him four little touchdowns within the space of a couple of hours and he'll be your own little darlin'.

"Fairly prissy crews"? You mean the ones that call penalties when they're supposed to be called? Oh. Those crews.
