I wouldn't touch Kyle Long, Justin Pugh or Travis Frederick in the 2nd.
Kyle Long:
Multiple character type issues. True weight appears to be about 304 (he weighed 304 at the Senior Bowl and then 313 a couple of week later at the combine). He has short arms for an OT. At Guard, he is tall 6-6 and underweight for his height. He has good quickness but his anchor strength is not that great.
Justin Pugh:
He has very quick feet; however, he has minimal anchor strength and very short arms (31.5"). IMO, he is almost identical to a player that is already on the Cowboys roster, Kevin Kowalski. I'm hopeful that Kowalski can develop, but the difference is that Kowalski was a UDFA.
Travis Frederick:
His college weight was 338. He appeared slow in game footage; however, I thought that he had room to lose weight and get quicker. Unfortunately, he got down to 312 for the combine and still ran a 5.55 forty. I think that his playing weight will be somewhere between 338 and 312. Any additional weight over the 312 is going to make him that much slower. In the modern pass-happy NFL, slow but powerful OLinemen are not the asset that they were in the past. The Cowboys OL coach Callahan is trying to implement a Zone Blocking Scheme. This scheme requires quicker than average OLinemen.
