That's ridiculous... a "guesser?"

It wasnt the biggest sample, I said upfront I didnt know to watch him for a good part of the year. But from what I saw he would guess where the play was going to go and try and jump the gap. If he guessed wrong hed be out of the play. Could he even do any of that as a 5-technique?

But he did have some quicks and would clearly look good next to Rat in a 4-3 potentially

Dareus and Fairley havent impressed me

Not enough to pass on Peterson or Prince.

I was keying on Dareus very early in a game, maybe even the 1st drive, and he literally stopped his pass rush after a second or two. He just leaned on his guy until the play was over. Passaro

If Peterson and Prince are as good as some say they are, we don't have to worry about drafting them because they will probably be gone.

As it stands we are looking at picking around the 10th spot, if not lower, by the end of the year. Some of us aren't suggesting Fairley because we think he's the best thing since sliced bread, we are picking him because we feel he'll be the best player available when we pick with a chance to do the team some good.

Would I prefer Peterson over Fairley? Absolutely. Do I think Peterson will be on the board when we pick? I'm doubtful.

then you're just determined to take a CB. I can see beeing unimpressed with Dareus or even being turned off by Fairley's tendency to drive QBs into the ground, but Fairley is the most dominant college defender and will likely be named the collegiate DPOY

Well we saw a playmaker in last years draft and traded up to go get him.

This defense obviously needs a playmaker.

Fairley actually has some of those abilities, but can he do it w/ our defense Im not sure

Then you're just determined to take a CB.

Not true, the idea of Robert Quinn that others have brought up sounds pretty sweet

then you're determined not to take a D-Linemen. Because not being impressed by Fairley because he's not Suh, makes no sense. Might as well never be impressed by a DT prospect for atleast the next 10-15 years

Im questioning the impact a player like that can have for us compared to our other options

I gotcha, but it's a college scheme, so I'm guessing he doesn't have much responsibility when playing DT (he also slides out to DE) other than beating his man, penetrating and trying to make a play or blow one up.

Gap assignment is something that is easily learned in the pros if need be.

For the record, I would be ecstatic if Peterson was our pick as well.

Just watched a ton of Robert Quinn. Fast as hell, strong as hell, and hes an awesome tackler w/ good angles.

I have not seen him move from the right side at all though......

Unless Dareus or Fairley are as dominant as Suh, I'll pass and take one of the CBs.

CB/FS is more of a need than DL. You guys realize the dropoff in QB pressures came with Spears' injury, correct?

We need Defensive Back help and Offensive Line help. The rest is luxury. Easy discussion.

I don't know.

I think OL and DL is higher on my list than DB. You can NEVER have enough quality BIG men. War is won in the trenches. If we have a superior line DBs won't need to cover too long and we only need to rush 4 instead of blitz all the time.

I would like us to stay aggressive in our draft strategy as well, that's why I loved last years draft. It was nice to see us trading up to get the guys we wanted instead of trading down to take more average players.

I think you're right in that even a good DE might be a complete waste in our defense which is what makes me hesitant on spending such a high pick on one.

I actually like Kenrick Ellis in the 3rd to play DE for us kind of like Nagta for the Ravens.

Isn't Spears going to be a free agent?
