I am trying to find a silver lining in our approach to the cap and free agency. So I am wondering how high can we climb in the first round packaging our first + all of our 5th round picks. Is it possible to get inside the 20th pick or possibly the 19th? What are your opinions on this? Is it even worth it?

There will be a bunch of great prospects at positions of need at 24. No need to waste draft picks to move up. Unless somebody unexpectedly falls into their lap, I fully expect the Cowboys to take the BC or A & M guard.

If somebody starts sliding in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round, then maybe package some of the 5ths or 6th round picks to move up a few spots and grab em.

It’s not 100% dead on but usually pretty accurate

3 5ths to move up to 21 with NE is probably best case scenario

Depends entirely on how the board falls.

If you have a player at a need position ranked #8 overall and he slips to like 18-19, you've gotta think about going up for him.

Then Stephen says it's too expensive and that's over.

Also keep on mind you can never have enough DBs that aren't good enough to dress on gameday. 5th round is perfect for those.

And don't forget the 6th round is where we find starting safeties the way no other team can.

Trading up in the 2nd isn't cheap. When we traded up for Lawrence, it cost us a 3rd
Off the top of my head, I'd say all four of those 5th rounders are worth moving up maybe 5 or so slots from 24. At most.

WHY would a team want FOUR additional 5th round picks?

Same way we don't but sometimes people figure some other team will take our trash in return for something worth anything.

Here's best case scenario for that killer 5th round. I mean....a five run homer......

Trade one for a 2023 4th. Use the other on a kicker.

Use the other two on this year's version of Reggie Robinson.

That's the very high end of the worth of those picks.

KC now needs a WR. So does GB and Atlanta. I would like to see Cowboys trade back with KC who jumps up to get their WR in front of GB and Atlanta. By trade value chart, this would cost KC 120 points. Their higher 3rd round pick is worth 128 points. Cowboys could slide back a few spots, pick up an extra 3rd round pick and still get a solid prospect. Then use that 3rd round pick to move up in the second if needed to get another top prospect.

Would be a terrible move

Absolutely horrific

If you go by the draft chart numbers, it gets us to pick 21 maybe 20.

If you call a team looking to move up in the 1st round and offer 5th round picks you'll be laughed off the phone like the melvin you are.
