Draft Countdown's new mock

I've never been more sure about anything else in the draft than this: we aren't drafting Taylor Mays.

I do, however, like their pick of Jared Veldheer in round 2. I just think we go Mike Iupati or bust with our first pick. After that I think we trade out of round 1 and target Nate Allen from USF and Vladimir Ducasse from UMass.

just curious, why are you so absolutely positive we aren't drafting Mays? Last I heard, and I am not even sure if it is accurate, was that Dallas was interested in him.

Lord, I hope not, mays is kinda like ken hamlin, doesnt make plays, and hamlin was once known for his hits with the nickname of the Hammer, now hamlin needs to be called rubber hammer, or ping pong hammer. Soft!

I understand all the Mays hate. I'd either trade down for Allen in the 2nd, or stay put in round 2 and select Burnett. Although his 4.45 40 will probably push him into middle of the 2nd.

I saw another mock earlier today that had our 1st 3 rounds going like this:

1-Taylor Mays
2-Vlad Ducasse
3-Jacoby Ford

I at least liked the 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Because if Jerry Jones wants to see improved play-making from the safety position, particularly free safety, you're definitely not going to draft a strong safety in round 1, and you're definitely not going to draft a Roy Williams clone in round 1.

Taylor Mays is not known for his coverage skills. Roy Williams at least was good in coverage for 2 to 3 seasons before his skill-set diminished.

Add to the fact that we are actually relatively good to go on defense with a few depth issues along the line and at linebacker, and I just don't see us drafting a hard-hitting, non-covering safety in round 1.

If we do draft him, it is like I said, to play linebacker, and more specifically I would expect him to take Carpenter's spot. Bigger, faster, stronger, and he would only be asked to cover fullbacks, h-backs, and really backup tight ends, as Sensabaugh would likely cover the top tight end on the opposing team.

Agreed...That's exactly what I see us doing...As well, I can see Veldheer being a target at our second pick, should we miss out on Ducasse

Yuck..............anyways, there is no way Morgan gets past Miami

Y'all don't even want to see me on this board if we pick Taylor Mays in the first round.

How about Dez being there at 10 and us not trading up?

Yeah, that would be a smart non move by Jerry.

Oh trust me.....I know where your coming from. This board would be the last place anyone wants to be if that goes down.

This is all well and good but this has nothing to do with Dallas not being interested in him. You may not be interested in him, but the powers that be, might have a completely different take..I am not suggesting we draft Mays, I just thought you had concrete evidence to support your claim.

WTH

You were all about him

Too many negative things on him.

Seems like a dude that just doesn't have "it" as a football player.

I'm just going on things ive read. Who knows if it's true.
