Draft Day the Movie

Not sure whether to post here or some other forum so if the mods want to move this thread please feel free.

Anyway, in the movie a character says NFL teams missed a draft pick because they didn't make their selection in time, and cite the 2007 and 2011 drafts (I think).

Is this just a Hollywood script or has that happened in real life?

I think the vikings did that one year. They still got a pick in but it was a pick or two later than their original slot.
