Draft Day Thoughts/Opinions!

I did not quote you out of nowhere and get on a soapbox like you did ....... I simply stated how I fell about it.

So again ....... piss off ....... you obviously like when the NFL does things that have nothing to do with football
Oh I'm sorry are you the only one who is allowed to speak their mind here?

This is the draft forum, either you're here to talk draft or ragebait. I don't see anyone but you doing the latter, so who really shohld piss off?

Happy Draft Day!

-Give it up to Schott and the front office, we have some idea who they may draft, but in the past, we knew weeks prior who they were taking. Same as last year, nobody thought Booker ever was going to be the pick at 12 nor saw Ez on their radar.

-Everything points to sticking and picking at premium positions. As we know, Edge/Corner are among the most expensive on the open market. We saw average edge players like Phillips get paid 30 million a year after coming off of a 5 sack season. Rams signed McDuffie, a solid corner to 31 million per season, which is crazy.

-I have heard that the Cowboys have zero interest in trading pick 20 away as it has been earmarked for a player they love. My guess it is one of these 4: Lawrence, Faulk, Hood or Johnson.

-At 12, I think they are targeting one of Styles, Downs, Delane and may trade up for one of the three. Don't see a big move, maybe just to pick 9 if they made that decision.

-Who is their fall back player if they are wiped out or cannot trade back? Tyson interest is legitimate, but I think he is long gone. My guess would be Faulk.

-In my opinion, with no media scouts mocking the Cowboys a 1st rd linebacker and them having a late 3rd rd pick when they will be long gone, tells me that they have post draft trade or fa signing in place. It would not surprise if we don't see a linebacker drafted until late day 3.

-My dream 1st rd, would be Downs, Allen (trade down) and adding a day 2 pick.
If they can't get Downs, I think they should take Bain.

Id be over the moon if we could move back and still get Faulk. I do think there is a good chance he goes top 15, possibly us at 12

Its already one of the better post draft markets in some time, and the draft hasnt even happened yet. Four Pro Bowlers in there prime that are already in the market at need positions.

If they punt in LB, and trade for Brooks or Al Shaiir, getting a guy in the 4th or 5th that can compete with James to replace Overshown in 2027 would be a good play. I still have some long term hope for James, but Id like to see competition

The Faulk talk is interesting. 0 leaked connections to him. No combine meet, no pro day, no visit. No mention of Faulk to Dallas until Schrager says something. And Schrager has some of the best sources out there

Found out today, that he was a 30 visitor, so there is a connection. Probably wanted to hide their interest as it we heard nothing until Schrager broke the news

I think there were like 5 that hadnt got reported. He fits what Cowboys seem to be looking for to a T. Pretty much the defensive version of Booker

They just haven't shown major interest in the draft, nor seem overly concerned about the position. This suggests, they probably have a trade in place post june 1st when a contract becomes cheaper to move and also put onto our cap. It wouldn't surprise if we don't see a linebacker taken until day 3.

If they drafted him, I have heard they want him to add weight and play as a down DL next to Clark/Williams, where he would kick inside in the nickel. 3-4 DE's aren't sexy picks, but they are extremely important for the scheme. I have come around on the player and see the fit.

Could he Styles or bust, and honestly I dont see them using that type of pick on an off ball LB thats not a rare talent like Parson was

They need a guy that can play both 5T and 3T long term. Clark is a short termer, and he could be in a decline. If he is here in 2027, he may be no more than a role player quality guy. If they dont draft Faulk, I think Konga gets targeted. Could even be 92

In an ideal scenario for me, we are able to move down, pick up a 2nd and use that on a WR. There is alot of talked about Tyson, but they showed alot of interest in Cooper too

I am not there with moving on from Pickens, drafting a WR makes zero sense to me, especially with all these defensive needs.

Yes, I believe they will be looking to take a 3T on day 3 to develop and play in the rotation. Konga makes a lot of sense.

I really think they are out on Pickens after the season.

Stephen Jones has said they are already into post draft trades, so I think they are going to fill some holes there
