Ok some say Jason Garrett's offense is much like the one we had in the 90's so let's say Mark Ingram is there at 9 and alot of people compare him to E.Smith which i don't think so but hes pretty good, would you go best available like we did with DEZ? Just thought we could get into discussions like that, we can always trade Choice or release him, he didn't do much last 2 games.Don't get me wrong i love Choice and his passion.

Not at #9, most boards have Ingram from #15 all the way into the second round. Looking at the way the draft could work out, I would imagine that Ingram will be available late 1st round, anywhere from 25 through 40.

His 40 time will knock him down.

I am gonna say no, unless you know for sure he is as good as Emmitt. I really do not expect him to be as good as all that.

I don't think any RB will go in the top 10, and I don't see Dallas taking one there no matter what because of there bigger needs to address and higher-rated players who should fit those needs.

If I could get a 3rd or 4th for Choice and use it as ammo to move back in the first for Ingram I'd do it in a second.

They already turned that trade down at the deadline.

We're in a pickle. We need quality oline but we need secondary and d line too.. Ugh.

one of the first ones to make the comparison, but I made it very clear that it was in the physical and peripheral aspect, not saying that Ingram was the next Emmitt. Both are almost identical in size, very similar running styles, almost identical college careers, and the same thing that happened to Emmitt in '90, it's happening to Ingram now. That does not mean that Ingram is going to come into Dallas and become a pro bowl RB from the very moment he enters the field like Emmitt did, or it could mean just that. I just don't know.

Having said that, I would not pick him with the #9. As a matter of fact, I would probably not pick him at all, unless by some miracle he falls to the 2nd round. Not because of him, but because he's the type of back who's not going to do you any good as a part timer and if we draft him, we must make up our minds that he's the feature back and rearrainge our backfield accordingly, meaning trading Choice and posibly even Felix.

The idea must be studied and explored carefuly and thoroughly, just in case, as an organization, the Cowboys come to the conclusion that they should go that route. That means taking away a great deal of responsibility from TR and shifting it to Ingram and the running game.

yeah but remember emmitt smith's time knocked him down too and look at what he did, also remember emmitt was injured at college too, and what kind of records he broke

if cowboys do say trade down, to say about 15th slot or so, pick up an extra 2nd and 4th or 5th, and take ingram, i dont have a problem with it, but i feel you should at that time trade barber, i still think you can get a 4th for him, granted now with sparano out maybe at miami, but if jeff ireland stays at dolphins he make make trade for barber, say a 4th

granted we need DE, CB, OL, Safeties, but you always, always take best player available

This offense average 27 points per game. Nothing except the OL is the problem.
Fix OL and D please!!!

Obviously that's the logical argument..

However, being the devil's advocate on this one, I submit that the team we have today is INFINITY more talented than the one we had entering the 1990 draft when we picked Emmitt Smith, and that 1990 team had a TON of more holes to fill than this one..

Emmitt wasn't even our target in the draft.

We will not take a RB in the first round. Likely not at all.

Disagree with the bolded part. If Dallas drops Barber, which seems likely, then I think the Cowboys will take an RB in the later rounds of the draft. Lots of gems at the position have been found in those rounds.

take a gander at these picks in first round from 98 to 2010 that made it big and players still under the radar. In other words, there are good players if you have a very good draft department, and you know what your doing in the draft. It possibly going to hurt that QB Luck maybe staying in school, because I still want CB/S Peterson or Frailey DT/DE for either one to fall down to us, if both are gone then trade down, acquire some extra picks but dont trade down below say 15th to 16th pick, some good players have fallen to 16th pick in first round. The years i didnt post, those players picked from 15th to 20th didnt pan out. so you need to know where players should go and what round, and if they should be picked high or not

You never ever pick for need if a better player is on the board when you pick, you always, always take best player available.
