Finally here, seems like it takes forever to get here after the season is over, then is over and done with in an instant.
Final draft weekend thoughts:
1) After today, hopefully all the fantasy football pie in the sky scenarios of trading for Boldin or Peppers will finally be gone. Boldin isnt worth 9-10mils a yr, and niether is Peppers. Nor do we even need either one of them. People in this forum are so fickle, they think the only way to possibly win anything is to accumulate every big name player in the league, and this has been PROVEN not to work. On top of that many of these same people criticize Jones as an owner/GM and say he is too much like a Steinbrenner or Snyder and only spends big bucks to get big names.
2) I still do believe Greg Ellis will be traded this weekend, possibly today in a trade up scenario. The only problem with trading Ellis is it creates a void at OLB, and they'd have to draft another one.
3) Hakeem Nicks would sure look good wearing the star. I still think he'll go in the first round (especially if nobody trades for Edwards or Boldin) but if he slips into the 30's, maybe Jerry moves up to get him. I think he's the only guy we'd move up more than a few picks for.
4) If Delmas gets into the 40's, maybe they move up a few spots to nab him.
5) Interior OL would be a waste of a pick today IMO, unless somehow they end up with two 2nd rd picks, in which case I still think its somewhat of a waste because we have 4 guys there we know can play already. We have a probowl C and RG, both in the prime of their career. Kosier and Holland are dependable starters if healthy for LG. To me T is the real concern, especially if they dont believe Free will ever pan out. If thats the case, they have nothing behind Adams and Colombo.
6) FWST today says they love Robiskie and Brandon Tate. I had Tate in my Cowboys mock as the first 4th rd choice, I wonder if he's still on their board after the reported positve drug test?
7) Still am not convinced they'll take a QB
8) Even though Jerry predicted a quiet Saturday, I could see us ending up with two 2nd rd picks.
9) in above scenario, a Nicks/Rashad Johnson day would be ideal IMO.
