Although Cam Newton's rare physical talent has teams willing to overlook the fact he played in a run-option offense at Auburn, Kaepernick is still dealing with questions about having played against a lower level of competition in the WAC while playing in the Wolf Pack's "pistol" offense.

I like the 2nd tier QBs in this draft better than Gabbert and Newton. Wouldn't be a bit suprised to see Kaepernick, Ponder and Dalton have the better careers.

Kaepernick while talented with raw skills is so far away from QBing a team IMO.

It's a pretty good year if you don't need a QB immediately. Several of these guys could be brought in, groomed, and turn out to be very good players.

I bet Jacksonville, for example, grabs on in Rounds 2-4 to groom for a year or two down the road.

I heard today Jacksonville is very interested in Christian Ponder at #16.

lol why are so many people down on newton? Because he's arrogant? The guy destroyed everybody he faced this yr plain and simple. Its not like Auburn had a cupcake schedule. The team plays the cream of the crop every yr.

I don't think people are down on Newton but they'd rather take a different QB later than risk it all on Newton.

Very few QBs are actually worth the pick they are drafted at.

For a guy who really only played 1 year of college football, I can't blame someone for going with another player later on.

And his arrogance is probably secondary to his other characteristics. Withdrew from Florida to avoid suspension. Not exactly a beaming quality to run away from troubles like that.
