Bringing back Sdogo's draft game. The rules are you can't pick a player before the selection the Cowboys own.

Cowboys picks...9, 40, 71, 109, 140, 171, 209

CBS Sportline Rankings:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings

9. Tyron Smith OT Southern California

40. Benjamin Ijalana OG Villanova

71. Chimdi Chekwa CB Ohio State

109. Kristofer O'Dowd C Southern California

171. Da'Rel Scott RB Maryland

209. Kai Forbath K UCLA

Smith is the BPA in an area of need at 9. If Julio Jones really did fall to us I'd be trading down fast for multiple picks.

I really like Ijalana as a guard and think he give you more flexibility than Marcus Cannon or Rodney Hudson. Stephen Paea was someone else I thought about at 40 but we have greater needs on the offensive line IMO.

Chimdi Chekwa at 71 is the BPA in an area of need. Other options are Jerrell Powe and either James Carpenter or Clint Boling if we don't go OL early.

Kristofer O'Dowd is the BPA at 109 and may be able to make the transition to guard. Robert Sands, Ahmad Black and Chris Culver are all good safety options at this point in the draft.

At 171 Da'Rel Scott is a good back to add to the RB rotation. Other guys I thought of were Henry Hynoski at FB, Cecil Shorts at WR and Jeron Johnson SS.

The final pick is Kai Forbath. He gives us someone who has a legit chance to start if Buehler doesn't improve.

Ok, I will play along:

Seeing that Blaine Gabbert & Cam Newton are both there, Cowboys trade with Vikings, to trade down. In discussions with Vikings, Cowboys get call from Dolphins too, but Dolphins dont have a 2nd rd draft choice, but the Cowboys with getting 2 teams bidding on both QB's available, Cowboys get Vikings 2nd and 7th rd draft choice.

Cowboys at 12th slot 1st round Tyron Smith
Since the cowboys have a high 43rd pick with the 40th pick, cowboys trade the 40th pick to Chargers for the Chargers 50th pick in 2nd round and the chargers 79th pick in 3rd round, plus the chargers 183rd pick in 6th round.

Cowboys with the 43rd pick (from vikings) take Marcus Cannon OT/OG
Cannon from reports should be able to play OG and Center too.

Cowboys with the 50th pick take Kenderick Ellis DE/NT
Ellis will be able to play DE and NT, spelling Ratliff some.

With the 71st pick, and Cowboys having two 3rd round picks, Cowboys trade 71st pick to 49ers for their 3rd rounder 76th and 4th rounder 108th.

With the 76th pick Cowboys take 3rd round
Quan Sturdivant ILB

With the 79th pick Cowboys take
Dontay Moch OLB

With the 108th pick Cowboys take
Buster Skrine CB

With the 110th pick, cowboys own pick in 4th cowboys take
Kristofer O'Dowd C

With the Cowboys own 5th rounder Cowboys trade down 5 slots with raiders, get their 148th pick, plus their 7th rounder 219th.
Deunta Williams S

With the Cowboys 176th pick 6th round Cowboys take
Jah Reid OT/OG

With the 6th rounder (chargers pick) cowboys take
Henry Hynoski FB

With the 7th rounder Vikings pick 215th cowboys take
Jonas Mouton OLB

With the 219th pick from raiders in 7th round, cowboys take
Colin Jones FS

With the 7th rounder from chargers cowboys own pick they take
Ricardo Lockette WR 4.34 speed

With the Cowboys compensation pick 251st Cowboys take
Noel Devine RB elite kickoff and punt returner, 4.34 speed & 3rd down back

With all these picks, cowboys have now filled their needs. Reason why I traded so much, if no CBA deal is done, you wont be able to sign any undrafted free agents after draft is over. So, Cowboys trade down some in some rounds for players they had their eye on for free agents after draft ended.

  • Tyron Smith - i'm going need over BPA, I don't worry about passing on the QB's but Ingram would start on this team and Jordan is a need and higher rated. I don't like the depth at OT so I take Smith
  • Rodney Hudson - Again I'm not going by my board, but I'm not sure how Paea fits in the 3-4 with what I already have. Hudson probably starts and he's sorely needed as a backup center.
  • Chimdi Chekwa - I think he can play in zone or man, he's bpa and needed.
  • Ian Williams - he's a two down player, I think he gives us the flexibility to move Ratliff to the end on 1st down. I'm still not sold on that, but I do think Ratliff need's spelled more and I like the thought of having a big body in there on running downs. He should be a fixture in your NT rotation for yrs to come.
  • Mark Herzlich - I looked hard at CB's and everyones 5th round safety pick Williams. I'm taking this guy I'm putting him next to Lee and I'm going to have a really solid player with great insticts to pair with Lee.
  • Cecil Shorts - He's gonna be my slot guy he runs great routes and understands the passing game. I think Tony will grow to love this guy.
  • Noel Devine - This type od speed and quickness will not be here, but if it is I'm taking him.
  • Anthony Gray- This guy needs some discipline and technique. I've got to take a guy who plays hard and is athletic 330- lber..
I would have entertained offers to move down in the ast but feel good about getting the best OT in the draft. I really would have moved down in the 2nd if I could have, but I really like shoring up the oline.

The Cowboys picks have changed a little.

9, 40, 71, 110, 143, 176, 220, 251

71. Chimdi Chekwa CB Ohio State

.

Even though I go to OSU I don't watch their team play much (not a college fan) HOWEVER my moms bf and his whole family are die-hard OSU fans and they always call him "toast" because they said it always seems like hes getting burnt.

Take that for what its worth but I know they sure don't like the guy and curse his name every game lol.

I use Chimdi as a placeholder. This seems to be a good spot to find a corner in the draft. I think some nice talent will be in this area.

Great selections here.....go OL in the first two rounds and try to pick up a big nasty at NT in the 3rd RD and then go with a big 250lb or bigger RB/FB to help us grind out games with our big, young, athletic, and improving OL....especially if we go OL in the 1st and 2nd RDs. We can pick up a good ILB for depth purposes and a good RB to compete with Barber and our current 3d string RB......what's his name!!!!

Really happy with this draft, actually

#9: Gabe Carimi T
#40: Curtis Brown CB
#71: Will Rackley G
#102: Tandon Doss WR
#143: Jaiqwan Jarrett S
#176: Mike Mohamed ILB
#220: Anthony Sherman FB
#251: Lazarius 'Pep' Levingston DE

I didn't know much about Buster Skrine, but I know everyone got hot on him after his 40 time at the combine. That, while good doesn't impress me all that much. Looking into him though, that speed combined with the fact that he plays very physical I do like.

I wouldn't draft anyone only based on a 40 time, but I do like his physical play. I would consider drafting him now.
