I had draft ratings, not just because there is no way to tell how good any of these players will be in the NFL. We have seen the majority of QBs taken in round 1 fail, for example.
I think some analysts look at the players and judge how good they are, not where they were taken or who else was available at the time. This is why I think the Cowboys did a good job in this draft. In almost every round there were players taken just before the Cowboys that maybe the Cowboys would have taken, and maybe they would have been better than what they wound up taking. But when it was their turn, I think they only made one major mistake and that was Nahshon Wright. He was probably going to be around in the 6th round to be honest. I might also fault the cowboys for not being more aggressive. Las Vegas, for example, moved up in front of Dallas to grab Moehrig thinking Dallas would taken him. I have no idea if Dallas would have, I think not, but Las Vegas wanted to make sure they got him. Smart, aggressive move. I thought the Cowboys should have moved up in the 3rd round or into the 2nd if they had a target they wanted badly.
Otherwise, the Cowboys got some good value picks. I like what they did, but was disappointed some of the players I wanted were taken before Dallas. I gave their draft a B because of the two issues I noted above, but I don't a serious mistake.
An example of a serious mistake, IMO, is Denver passing up a QB to take Patrick Surtain when they had just signed two free agent CBs, resigned safeties Justin Simmons and Kareen Jackson . Normally I believe in BPA when you have patched your major holes in free agency, but not in the case of QBs. Franchise QBs are everything and passing on Justin Fields and Mac Jones because they have Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater is a major draft mistake they could regret for a long time.
