Found this an interesting read when you look at these grades from the experts. How do you think they did?

https://clutchpoints.com/dallas-cowboys-2022-nfl-draft-grades-for-every-pick/

Rd

1 grade a B. They missed this by a mile. This is an A+++. Guy walked in as a starting rookie left tackle and is playing like an all pro. B my rear end.

2 B+ this grade is a NM at the moment. Hard to get in on the action with our current line. Wait and see.

3 A- This is currently a D-. When yur 3rd round wr cant even get active and the team started out with 2 WRs on the IR..... ugh. Maybe he can turn it around, but this is starting off horrible. WTH is happening here? Did he forget how to play? Cnat adjust to the NFL? Very disappointing.

4 B+ Cant give him much of a grade yet. I think the guy can clearly play, but he is never going to be Tony Gonzalez. Looks like he could be a solid NFL TE. If he starts next year, this grade is an A.

5 c+ BLAND this grade is a solid B. Guy made plays in pre season and made plays in his limited opportunities. If you 5th rd DB is active most games and making plays, thi sis an easy B+ Bland could end up being starter in 2 years.

5 B Waletzco.. NM. Simply hasnt been around enough for a grade.

5 c+ Clarke NM.. just showed up. Need some time.

The first round pick alone makes this draft
A solid A.

The draft definitely looks stronger as the season goes on. Bland is likely to be playing 70% of snaps next season if Brown moves on. Thats huge for a 5th round pick. Ferguson looks like he could keep up the tradition we have had of hitting on non premium positions in the 4th ( Hitchens, Wilson, Shultz, Pollard)

A solid A.

While I agree finding a future LT at where we drafted is huge, I think part of what has been wrong with the cowboys drafting is they hit on firsts and then are pretty weak in the middle rounds.

I wouldn't give an A to the draft just bc of the first but massive credit is due

Minimum of 3 years before a draft class can be graded.

Yes.
A few players maybe 4 or even 5. By that time they are onto another team.
A low % come in and contribute greatly right away. 1st rounds expected to of course, but as we know, they always do not work out right away.

I got so that I don't expect a lot from 2nd or 3rd round players until at times their 2nd year. But at least make some contributions and progress during the year.

But agree, 3 years is the rule on every rookie regardless of draft status overall.

Tolbert was a terrible pick. Why can't we just concentrate on the lines. If you get everything blocked up on offense you can run plays and guys will get open. If you can reek havoc on the defensive side you don't need to worry so much about your back end guys. It's that simple.

Tolbert was a reach, I was not high on him as many others.
I wonder if those that wanted him, are now saying otherwise. Anyway it doesn't matter. I will give him another few years.
See what happens next year. Who knows, he could improve greatly later on this year.

It’s way to early to judge the draft but the guy gave Tyler a B because he is worried about injuries in the future.:facepalm: Let’s also relax and let Tolbert develop. I bet he plays better with Dak then with Rush.

I’m still lukewarm on the draft. Smith has been a pleasant surprise but I still think he should be playing G. He’s been solid, but still 3rd in the league in penalties and T11 in sacks alllowed.

The fact Williams can barely get on the field and Tolbert hasn’t been on the field is incredibly disappointing.

Can’t really judge a draft until your 2/3 years in but right now maybe a C.

1. Tyler Smith --A+. Starting LT that late in round 1 is pure gold drafting, again.
2. Sam Williams --B+ Williams is clearly disruptive and very strong. He is only going to get better.
3. Jalen Tolbert --C- Hasn't taken advantage of empty WR room but WR can be tough as a rookie. All that said he has made a deep team.
4. Jake Ferguson --A Rookie TE is so far ahead of Dalton when he came in. Likely starter next year and has impressed the staff. R4 guys don't generlly play this much as rookies.
5. Waletzko --INC IR for the rookie OT.
5b. DaRon Bland --A+ Value is insane that he can play day 1 as a 5th rounder in a quality secondary. Likely to start next year.
5c. John Ridgeway D On to another team after not making this insanely deep DL. Still in league and is an NFL caliber player.
5d. Clarke INC IR guy just getting back.
6. Devin Harper --D+ Special Teamer through first 3 weeks of year that has fallen to inactive with deeper roster. But tough to make a good, active roster as a 6th rounder.

What if Clarke comes back full strength and contributes in the next year or 2.

LT, DE, LB,C,WR, TE, and maybe swing tackle. Contributors at those 6 positions in one year, is a very good draft.

Williams could play more if they decide to use Parson less on the edge. Last season when Gregory was in the lineup, they seemed to use Parsons more as a blitzer than as an edge rusher.

I would say Armstrong's play is keeping his snap counts low, but I dont believe that is the case. Armstrong is inside alot in pass rush packages
