Dallas's picks:

22. Dallas - 9-7 - * Chris Houston CB 5-10, 180 Arkansas
Boys will be hard pressed to pass on this fast cover man, though not their biggest need position.

53. Dallas - Jason Hill WR 6-1, 210 Washington St

If I use the top 100 chart that Coyle released as well (and my program), I don't get these players at all.

I would be stunned to see both Green Bay and Buffalo pass on the RB Lynch unless they do something dramatic between now and the end of April. Neither have a starting RB on their roster. For once the demand for RBs in the NFL is greater than the supply. Usually there are 3 or 4 decent leftovers for teams to stack their roster with after free agency has run its course. And this looks like a bad year for backs in the draft.

Hmm Houston pretty much goes against everything Jerry has liked in CBs in the past. At that size, you'd likely see the guy as a 3rd CB at this level.

When they admit a pick isn't a need, it's a tacit admission they have a player they can't slot and they're dumping him so he goes where they think he should go.

Houston wowed the scouts at the combine with a very fast 40 time but wasn't ranked very high prior to that.

I am always leery of guys who jump up the rankings after the combine. I don't really care how fast a guy is on a track, I only care how well he can play football.

The guys on NFLN were saying that exact same thing at the combine.

Houston was in most hardcore draftnik's top five corners before the combine. His great combine showing may have made a few more people watch film of him but it's the talent on the field that moving him up in some people's eyes after what they saw in games.

Houston reminds me of Newman in that he's underrated by many casual observers who only notice corners when they make picks or have big returns. He goes about the primary job of a corner in not allowing catches and he goes about it very well.

That'd go down as the best possible scenario for Dallas. The two most underrated first day players both falling to them.

Hill's going to be a star. He'd have been a top ten pick in last year's draft before a disappointing injury plagued 2006.

I see 3 or 4 other guys I would pick in round one before Huston and at least one other corner

If this mock was the actual draft, we would be adding a ton of speed in Houston and Hill.

The NFL Network's draft guru (Mayock?) was saying before the combine that Chris Houston was going to wow everyone. He was right. I said in another post that this situation reminded me of South Carolina's Dunta Robinson. Before the season I didn't see anyone talking about him and he wasn't in anyone's mock draft. Then when the "draft season" started everyone was pimpin him as a Top 10 pick.

To me, there are about 4 or 5 corners that will be in the neighborhood of the 22nd pick, assuming we are drafting a CB. Whether we like the guy or not, Jerry and the coaching staff are going to go with the guy who they feel has the most upside.

Normally, I don't trust Jerry at all...but I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that the CB they take can come in and have an impact for us....

Chris Houston ---- 5-10, 180 - 4.50 - Arkansas
Aaron Ross - ---- 6-0, 190 -- 4.44 - Texas
Darrelle Revis ---- 5-11, 190 - 4.52 - Pittsburgh
Daymeion Hughes -5-11, 185 - 4.65 - California
Marcus McCauley -6-1, 200 -- 4.35 - Fresno State

Any one of these guys would be good with me. CB's are a prized commodity in this league and good ones are tough to find in later rounds.

Has Revis from Pitt had his pro day yet? I was curious of his 40 time and other tests.

Actually, Houston just climbed up the boards of people that hadn't been paying attention. He had a great year for Arkansas and showed exceptionally well when facing top shelf competition. He plays bigger than his size.

And I would be SHOCKED if Jarrett was picked before late in round one. He is the same player as Mike Williams who is struggling to see the field in Detroit. Huge, not great speed, good hands, but can't get off pressure.

Did not realize that McCauley was THAT big. Question is of course is how quick is he. BUT he is big enough to play safety; and has the skills to be a nickel CB.....
