If you like Okafor. If you think he will stink, it's pretty bad.

To be honest, I see Okafor in much the same way I saw Spencer coming out of Purdue. I think they are very similar at that same stage of each or their respective careers.

I actually love that draft.

Especially the Logan and Hodges picks.

To be honest, I didn't follow the draft too much when the Cowboys took Spencer, but isn't he a much better athlete than Okafor?

Not bad at all....would prefer best available G/C in the 2nd instead of Okafor, but yeah this could be much worse.

I don't think so. I think that these two are pretty similar. Okafor has not had his Pro Day yet and he didn't test at the Combine so we can't compare those but I suspect they are going to be similar once Okafor does test. Now, Spencer really only played his Jr. and Sr. season, while Okafor played in his Fresh and Soph seasons so lets just compare each players Jr. and Sr. stats.

Anthony Spencer 6'3" 261

12.5 Sks, 32 TFL, 115 Tkls.

Alex Okafor 6'5" 264

18.5 Sks, 30.5 TFL, 120 Tkls.

Here is what was said about Okafor in his Scouting Report.

Okafor is an extremely strong and powerful player who holds up very well against the run, doesn’t have elite burst off the edge. He’s also a bit stiff in the hips—not necessarily an elite natural athlete—probably can’t be asked to drop into coverage too much as a 3-4 outside linebacker. Okafor’s best fit is probably as an undersized strong side 4-3 defensive end.

Doesn’t have great speed rush, but has terrific power to get to the quarterback. Bull rush is the best I’ve seen from someone with his size; he continually drives offensive tackles into the backfield. Consistently makes it difficult for QB to step up and throw. Rarely overruns the quarterback.

Okafor uses his hands well. Keeps OLs away from his chest. Gets good drive. Reminds me a lot of Anthony Spencer.

Now, when I read this, it sounds to me like exactly what we see from Spencer. When I watch Okafor, he reminds me a lot of Spencer as well.
