Draft Nasty: NFC East: 2014 NFL Draft Recap (Corey Chavous)

I follow what you're saying, but I don't get the 18/2nd round on Martin vs the 279/4th round for Hitchens. Was he saying he thought Martin was the 18th best player in the 2nd round? Not trying to be difficult, I just don't understand the correlation of those numbers. Thanks.

He had less than 18 players with 1st round grades. (less than 16 since Lawrence is ranked higher) The Cowboys have the players graded similar but they did give Martin a 1st round grade.

This was a deep middle draft so there were a lot more players with 3rd and 4th round grades. This is also how nfl teams do it. They don't divide it up by real rounds.

Thanks, Speed.

Interesting stuff, anyway. And the first public ranking I'd seen with Hitchens with a true fourth round grade, anyway. Like the positives about Lawrence, in particular. Thanks for posting, speedkillz.

Gosh... someone who had Lawrence as the 16th best player on their board?

It must have been because of "need". o_O

I didn't even notice that when I read the article. I saw 16th ranked and just assumed he was talking about Zach Martin!:)

I also think LB Will Smith is going to surprise a lot of people.

am I the only one who got a kick out of this analysis. Thigh boards, briar patch.....sign this guy up.

He basically has 300 players with a 4th round or higher grade. He has most of our 7th rounders rated higher than Hitchens. According to this guy's grade we reached on Hitchens.

He has Hitchens ranked higher than all their 7th round picks.

He is perhaps the one player we drafted that is spoken about the least. That is usually the one who ends up sneaking up and grabbing a roster spot.

That does seem to be how it works. Usually someone else (like Hitchens right now) gets talked up and flops while players like this seemingly come out of nowhere.
