Draft Needs in my Opinion

Currently I'm trying to figure out if we can fill all our needs through the NFL Draft because it
doesn't appear Free Agency will land any Starters for the Boyz. Here is what my thinking
is our needs and I tried to rank them per order of need clue me in if I missed any:

1) LB (1st or 2nd Round)
2) Safety (1st or 2nd Round)
3) OG (1st or 2nd Round)
4) DT (1st or 2nd Round)
5) OT (1st or 2nd Round)
6) WR (2nd or 3rd Round)

Chee Wiz we couldn't have enough 1st or 2nd Round Picks to fill these needs. This is why
I thought we had to fill two or three of these in Free Agency. I honestly thought we would
sign a Safety such as Honey Badger, a WR like Hurns and a LB like Bowman in Free Agency
so we could focus on the OL and DL in the Draft. I realize these three Free Agents would
add Dollars to their Cap but hell how does the FO expect to challenge for anything without
restructuring a few Players and filling a few needs.

1st round LB

2nd round O-Line

3rd WR or safety

Unless a really good position of need player falls to us in 1st round. And I mean a can’t really miss player.

I keep reading lots of Posts saying take Ridley in 1st Round I don't see even how this is feasible when you have higher Priority
needs at LB and Safety

We are keeping Dez. Dak has to get better and the O-Line has to get better and the WR have to get open. Which means the routes have to get better or OC needs to make some changes instead of running the same predictable plays.

LB
They only use a 3rd LB on 15% of plays and Wison has been good enough at SLB. That leaves Lee/Jalen as the Nickel LBs. They signed the guy from Green Bay that has starting experience.

Safety
They were good enough at Safety in 2017. The Jones vs pass, Frazier vs run combo at SS actually worked OK. They have options on the roster with Woods.

OG
They've met with 2 OL from the Patriots. If one is signed they have the option to play him at RT and move La'El to LG.

DT
Collins and Irving will be starters. Price was OK but got injured. Datone Jones played surprisingly well at DT despite minimal practice time in the scheme. There are pure run pluggers still available in FA and run-plugger-only types don't get big money.

OT
They must find a Swing Tackle or starting OT and move Collins to LG.

WR
The draft is the only way to get a top talent at WR. The free agents are extremely expensive and most are not proven #1 WRs.

Conclusion: Sign one of the free agent OTs and draft a WR early.

There are lots of Crossing Fingers in your reply. The LB is very scary with Lee and Jalen as Nickel LB's. Lee is in and out of the Lineup
and honest to God Jalen didn't set the world on fire. Joe Thomas has played very limited and more of a Special Teams Player. The Safety
position lacks speed on the backend. Teams start going deep they are SOL. You could probably get by at DT but no real Plug to take
heat off the LB's. OL is a need because on this team if you can't sustain drives and eat clock their defense lacks and those are the Games
they don't do well. A playmaking WR is needed but I've said this before Dez really would better serve this team in the slot. Hes strong and
out muscles guys but running deeper (20 yard Routes) in my opinion not his game. I feel OL, LB, Safety and WR is the way to go in Draft.

There are lots of opinion of what needs there are. The draft will hopefully bring 2 or 3 starters but would like 4 or 5. It also will bring some depth at different positions.

JMO, I see the need at LG and LB most of all. I see needing to upgrade the WR position although not necessarily in the 1st round and a swing OT or starting RT with Collins moving back to LG although really don't see that happening. Just don't see everyone's opinion on needing a S.

Believe Dallas will move Awuzie to S this year. He was touted last year as either a CB or S but used mostly at CB. With Jones now back at CB and with Lewis, Brown, Thomas (who the coaches really like) and White, you could fill the CB spot at several spots in the draft. Awuzie could play either FS or SS but I see him more as a FS and Woods as the SS. Now we probably still draft a S but unless James falls to around 19 or 19 then really don't believe we draft a safety until the 3rd through 6th rounds.

Weakest point really is LB not because we don't have talent there but it is the injury history of Lee and Smith that are a concern. I do think Evans and Vander Esch are definitely on the radar in the 1st round. I do not think it will be a guard but could see a LG taken like Braden Smith or Wyatt Teller in the 3rd. Many want a trade up but the draft capital would be to much and with the probable run on QB and OT in the top 15 picks, there could be definite sliders.

Heath, Woods and Jones are faster than the average for NFL Safeties. It would be great to upgrade but they were good-enough at Safety last year.

The LB Thomas is a decent NFL player and probably a better fit in the 4-3. An upgrade would be great but they have sufficient options at LB to at least get average production there.

At DT they are unlikely to draft a 1-tech early. They already have two 3-tech types that will get most of the snaps in pass rushing situations which means 3-tech is not an immediate need. A low level free agent and/or mid round 1-tech would be the best option.

A 1st round pick at WR plus one of the multiple free agents they are looking at would allow them to move on from Dez and save 12.5M.

It's not a good idea to keep a player the OC does not want (Dez) and it appears the WR coach is not a Dez fan either.

I agreed that OL is a big need. They need to sign a free agent AND consider drafting one early.

Only if the player is an immediate fit , not a two to three year experiment.

I've gotten to the Point LB or OL at #19 and I want even complain if its too early but they take Will Hernandez OL (We need to pound the ball)
