Washington Commanders Reportedly Seeking to Trade Down from No. 7 Pick in 2026 NFL Draft Targeting LSU Cornerback Mansoor Delane
Last updated 22 minutes ago
League sources indicate the Washington Commanders want to trade down from the 7th overall pick due to lacking a second-round selection, with LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane as a top target. Other teams including the Cardinals, Browns, Jets, Lions, and Seahawks are also looking to trade down, while the Chiefs and Cowboys aim to move up.

Chiefs Eye Top-Five Trade to Land Elite Edge Rusher

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Cardinals at No. 3 and Titans at No. 4 are open to trading back, with the Chiefs leading the charge alongside the Cowboys. The move targets explosive edge rushers like Texas Tech's David Bailey or Miami's Rueben Bain Jr., who could pair with George Karlaftis to supercharge the front. GM Brett Veach's history of bold deals and needs for edge depth, receivers, and secondary help make a splash likely, though staying at 9 could still net Bain or talents like LSU's Mansoor Delane. The draft kicks off Thursday in Pittsburgh, setting the stage for potential fireworks.

PHNX’s Johnny Venerable reports that if the Cardinals and Saints were to swap first-round picks, both teams prefer the Saints throw in 2026 NFL Draft capital rather than future picks.
In a video report from earlier today, Venerable outlined a potential trade in which the Saints acquire the No. 3 overall pick from the Cardinals in exchange for the Nos. 8, 42 and 73 overall picks. He notes “no 2027 draft capital is exchanged with New Orleans,” and told viewers, “I think that’s the preference for these teams — in fact, I know it.” Per Venerable, the Cardinals “are looking to do their damage” in the draft this year, rather than next year. It sounds like Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort needs to leave the draft with meaningful personnel upgrades. Venerable notes that the Cardinals recently hosted Miami OT Francis Mauigoa (back) for a top-30 visit. He would be in play for them in this scenario. Yesterday, Venerable reported that the Cardinals have discussed a potential trade back with the Chiefs as well. He believes both the Saints and Chiefs are targeting either Texas Tech EDGE David Bailey or Ohio State LB Arvell Reese.

In the for what it's worth department, he currently has the Cowboys taking Mansoor Delane at 12 and Keldric Faulk at 20.

HMM ....if all this is true, I'm not sure Styles doesn't drop to 12.

Always thought the Giants or Commanders were his floor........
