Joe Rod;4351994 said:That sounds simple, but that isn't reality. Reality is that multiple teams did try to move up to get Peterson (Lions, Texans were two that I know of for certain), but there were no teams that really wanted to deal because their primary targets were set to drop to them. Dallas was rumored to be attempting to jump past Arizona, but could not get there. Part of that may be because Arizona was so set on taking one of Miller/Peterson, they would have countered any offer to ensure they got one of them.
Carolina - They were set on Cam Newton and did not want to trade down. Great decision on their part. Cam has completely revitalized that franchise.
Denver - John Elway wanted Von Miller, period. Said he reminded him of Derrick Thomas. He did not want to trade down. Miller was awesome this season.
Buffalo - The Bills had not picked this high since the mid-1980s (Bruce Smith) and they wanted to stay and draft an elite player at the spot. From what I've heard, it was a good pick because Dareus has already became a leader in the lockerroom. This was supposedly the team that Dallas tried to deal with but could not make it work because the Bills weren't that interested in budging and they were also flirting with Arizona by using other teams' proposals as leverage for trading with the Cardinals.
Cincy - They released both their starting wide-outs and desperately wanted Green, who fell right into their laps. Good pick because he was great this season.
Arizona - They wanted either Von Miller or Peterson from this draft. Von Miller was gone. They entertained offers but would not pull the trigger unless it was a ridiculous bounty that they could not ignore.
So again, my question is how would Dallas have been able to move up and get him? There was no trading partner that was really interested in budging at that time.
When I asked, I thought you might have some info that I had not heard.
No sorry didnt have any info you didnt know. I know that there is so much more than just dealing draft picks to move up. Also of course you must need a trade partner. I knew we was trying to get him but didnt know the full story on why we didnt end up pulling the trigger. I guess its just aggrevating always needed the same **** positions every single year you know.Every year its the same thing. I just wish we would get what we want when it was that close like PP was. Although it may have not been do-able. I dont know, i dont have any insight or know a friend of a friend that work for the DC's that gives insight. Just see the junk NFLN claims. Everyone is aggrevated at the moment cause of the game/season ending last night, so i just hope for a successful draft rather it be a qb, cb, olb, ol, in the first. As long as we draft well
