Draft Order So Far

I don't think you are factoring in player contracts.

Would you rather have Matt Ryan at 6 year $72 million ($35 Guaranteed) or Joe Flacco at 5 year $11 million ($8 Guaranteed) for pretty much the same production?

Do you want Darren McFadden at 6 year $60 million or Chris Johnson at 5 year $12 million.

Darrius Heyward-Bey at 5 year $38 million ($1.6 million per catch, but I guess he can run fast) or Hakeem Nicks at 5 year $12 million?

Who made more of an impact on the Jets, Ferguson (6 year $37 million) or Mangold (5 year $7 million)? Ask Revis that one.

Naturally it's easier to hit on a player when they are ranked as best of their position and you don't have to pick from what's left in the draft (I'm not arguing that), however the consequences of missing on a pick increases exponentially. That type of risk can and has crippled a team for years. Besides, as usual weren't you also in favor of trading down to get multiple picks? Seems you got all your bases covered making it easier for something to stick to the wall.

i am factoring in contracts, what im trying to get you to see is this
when the cowboys made keys trades mid 70s, for impact players high in the draft, which kept them in contention for 10 years or so
1. ed too tall jones
2. randy white
3.. tony dorsett, mixed in with draft picks like harvey martin, billy joe dupree, etc..

this took the cowboys to 3 superbowls in mid 70s

then, in 89, and early 90s, the cowboys again made trades with the famous, this took the cowboys to 3 superbowls as you know in 90s
hershel walker trade
admist this, the cowboys got
troy aikman
russell maryland
emmitt smith
alvin harper
kevin smith cb
among these picks and trades, the cowboys got
darren woodson
erik williams
larry allen etc....

Two times, the cowboys got impact players early and high, Mid 70s and early 90s.

The cowboys have not since, traded up high since with players traded away or had high draft picks, the highest the cowboys had after 90s was terrence newman with 5th overall choice and demarcus ware at 11, and roy williams safety at 8th in first rounds, but where is that number one or number 2 overall in first round draft picks like troy aikman, ed jones, randy white, tony dorsett

so, have the cowboys been in super bowl since then?

have the cowboys won a superbowl since then with impact players taken early in draft, or via trades?

NO!

Again, this team needs impact players high in the draft, to help propel the cowboys into championship games, and to win big, is the way i feel, and some of my facts back that up

Generally, teams that make runs at superbowls like miami in mid 70s, or steelers in 70s, or cowboys in 90s, etc,, those teams have had high draft picks, even the buffalo bills had high draft picks, beforethey went to the superbowls 4 times, even though they lost

So, go look at history, see how those teams were built through the draft, even the giants when they won, they got eli manning early in the draft, in 2007, the colts got peyton early in draft,

you build championships, with high picks and trades, like we did for charles haley and thomas everitt, mixed in with other draft picks, but the key to me, is impact players high in the draft, to push the team over the top with elite players

but you have to know what your doing in the draft, have excellent scouting, and a good head coach to build

just like the cowboys did with tom landry, tex schramn and gil brandt
then the cowboys in early 90s with jimmy johnson, and jerry jones

so go back and look at history;

Teams will not trade away top picks for us like they did for Dorsett, Manster, and Too Tall.

Wanting that kind of success to come back is feeble. Teams got wiser as they followed our lead.

I know that, most teams arent that dumb anymore, but my main point is this, and it could happen.

We might get a top 3 pick next years draft. That would be step 1.

Then, if there is no NFL next year, or lets say, kinda like 84 season, when skins came in, and won midseason what was left of the season. I dont think we still have the pieces to contend yet, with coaching staff we have. Till a CBA if filled out, I dont see Jerry Jones hiring a new head coach, then Jerry will be forced to go get a top head coach.

That will be step 2, no cba, so either hardly no season, and cowboys have another back to back top draft.

then, with at least a top 5 draft pick, dont know if league will have a weighted lottery, or go with how you fared after 2010 season, etc...

That will be step 3.

So, then we will have for 2010 draft
Dez
Lee cowboys had him listed at 16th in 1st rd on their board
Ansah who might be a steal in 4th round

2011 draft at least
a top 3 pick maybe in 1st round
the 2nd pick will be another top pllayer picked high in 2nd round
3rd rounder could be another jason witten type player

then going if no nfl in 2011, and cowboys picking high again in 2012, with teams laughing at us, making fun of us this year, players will be hungry when that new top head coach comes, and jerry jones lets him have control like jimmy johnson or parcells

we should have a top 5 pick or at least a top 10 pick, get another player like
demarcus ware
1. impact player like ware
2. another top player picked high
3. still a good player picked high at top of round 3

this will give us at least
9 key players by 2012, added to whatever jerry jones signs as free agents, and trades for

this will in my estimation, help rebuild this team, like the cowboys did in mid 70s and 90s

then, you can make a run for about 7 years, Lord willing!

Plus you will still have key players like felix, jenkins, and others on the team.

Finally, I am not going to say what i might think happen, because as sure shooting I do, most zoners will blast me off of this board, but I have an idea how this if does happen, helps us get back in prominence quickly like we did with hershel walker trade. I am not saying who, or what player will be traded, but might happen, if things go as bad as the season will i think. This trade if does happen should at least net us a first round pick, with what we already have, plus maybe a 4th rounder.
