I don't think you are factoring in player contracts.
Would you rather have Matt Ryan at 6 year $72 million ($35 Guaranteed) or Joe Flacco at 5 year $11 million ($8 Guaranteed) for pretty much the same production?
Do you want Darren McFadden at 6 year $60 million or Chris Johnson at 5 year $12 million.
Darrius Heyward-Bey at 5 year $38 million ($1.6 million per catch, but I guess he can run fast) or Hakeem Nicks at 5 year $12 million?
Who made more of an impact on the Jets, Ferguson (6 year $37 million) or Mangold (5 year $7 million)? Ask Revis that one.
Naturally it's easier to hit on a player when they are ranked as best of their position and you don't have to pick from what's left in the draft (I'm not arguing that), however the consequences of missing on a pick increases exponentially. That type of risk can and has crippled a team for years. Besides, as usual weren't you also in favor of trading down to get multiple picks? Seems you got all your bases covered making it easier for something to stick to the wall.
