I grew up with a friend that currently works for Yahoo Sports in an editorial position (and isn't getting laid off by them thankfully). Here are some things making the rounds in league circles.

The Vikings are getting calls about the #3 pick as a few teams think they'll have to leapfrog the Browns for Tannenhill. The Vikings aren't overly interested as they've already set the table for Kalil (wisely IMO). Chance of them moving down is <5% unless a hugely one-sided deal were presented.

Speaking of the Browns, Richardson seems to be the consensus and likely at this point. QB will be the focus in the second day.

Jacksonville is the hardest team to peg right now. There's a legitimate 5 or 6 players they could take at #7. If he were to guess, Coples would be the pick, but total tossup.

Poe will not be available at #14. Carolina loves him but also loves Cox. KC will not pass on Poe if he's there.

Dallas would prefer to go with Poe or Cox at #14, but if they're not available, would listen to phone calls and take Barron. Isn't convinced that this pick isn't moved to secure more depth.

Decastro is falling on draft boards not because of anything he's done wrong, but simply due to positional value. Won't escape outside of the teens, but can't see him going higher than the Cards and even that's a stretch.

Patriots will trade up for an impact player. The window is closing for them and while the offense can still get them close to a championship, defense needs help. They're said to like Nick Perry, but will have to trade into the mid-round to get him.

Biggest surprise to be picked early? Nick Perry. Biggest faller? Michael Brockers.

Depending on how the board shakes out, #14 for #27 and #31 would be extremely tempting.

Zietler, Mclellin and Jones are really moving up the board. Glenn is one of the ones falling, also seeing the LSU WR peek into the 1st round, not sure how that impacts wright.

Broyles I think is in the 3rd round now, which is bad for us I think.

I was just thinking about this yesterday..

If both Poe and Barron are available..you are hearing we'd take Poe?

I'D MUCH RATHER AVE DECASTRO AT 14 AND EITHER RONNELL LEWIS OR BRUCE IRVIN

I have been suggesting the idea of trading down to the end of the round for several days to get McClellin and another player. To me there are likely going to be at least a few very good guys available there that would fit needs. I don't see that big a difference between a guy like McClellin and any of the other OLBs or to grab another example, between Barron and Konz. Or Zeitler for that matter. And then picking again at 45 would be the icing on the cake.

I knew this was going to happen because of the position he plays and how deep this position goes in the draft.

While he is the most ready to play in the NFL, taking him at 14 while a more scarce defensive player remains on the board is the makings for a terrible draft.

That was the opinion of that sportswriter. It should be a moot point, however, as Poe is supposively the envy of Pioli and KC and they'd select him over Kuechly.

yes, it does appear as if both Cox and Poe will be gone by 14..its looking more and more like 2 options at 14

1) Barron
2) Trade down

Im thinking we go with Barron because our other options are gone and moving down doesnt make sense bc then we will lose out on all of our targets

wow an what great Defensive player is there at 14 ? besides Barron

lets finish the O line up with what we started with last year

with DeCastro we probably get ten years outta both him and Smith

JERRY PLEASE DRAFT DECASTRO AT 14

Who has been rumored to like Cox outside of Panthers before us?

I received a text from my friend in Charlotte last night saying Panthers hoping for Blackmon to fall and if not they will select Floyd.

Also to be talking about packaging their 2nd with JStew to move into first for DT.

*No it's not a "source" just passing along the information I received.

I'm starting to think that DeCastro, Cox and Barron will be there at 14.

Michael Brockers is a Ted Washington starter kit. I know its not glamorous to stop the run and occupy 2 guys, but even Ratliff is only a partial double team guy. We are missing a presence on the defensive front.

It would seem that Decastro and Barron will be. Cox is probably the highest-riser in this entire draft and, if I were betting, will not be there.

I'd rather have Decastro than Barron as Decastro is about as can't miss as you can get in this draft.

We can't go wrong selecting out of those three imo.

If I could get the 27th and 31st from NE for the 14th pick I'd go with McClellan OLB and Zielter OG. Then hope that Reyes DE is there @ 45. Now we have Spencer's replacement. Zeilter would start and Reyes would push Coleman out the door.

It's possible but I don't see the Rams or Jags at all.

I would be very happy with those three in that order listed. I would prefer a trade down to pick up Barron but the way he is moving up the board he probably would not be available. My choices would be DeCastro, Cox and Barron.
