Draft Scenario

After watching that debacle on Monday night I came to the conclusion that this team will never win. At least not the Super Bowl. I have been a Cowboys fan since I knew what football was and I always will be a diehard fan. But I am also a realist. I think they peaked a few years ago at 13-3, lost the playoffs and that was their shot. Given that, I think Jerry needs to dump these underachievers and rebuild. Yes that includes Romo. Don't get me wrong, I like Tony but I just don't see it happening here.
I think we need to make trades and stockpile picks. I think we need to keep Kyle Orton and draft a QB for the future, say Geno Smith. 6'3", 215 and supposedly extremely intelligent. Anyway, I think it's time. I am tired of every season starting and hoping that this will be the year that they finally turn the corner, and it never happens. I know we were spoiled in the 70's, even the early 80's and again in the 90's, but the goal is to win the Super Bowl and this team, in my opinion will never reach that goal.

I'm a realist and as a realist I can only speak for this year. I don't think they have a shot at winning it this year, but if they can acquire some talent for the OL, a good Safety, and maintiain what they have in other positions, this team will be contender next year. Can't say one way or the other if they will ever win a Super Bowl again because the Cowboys are not the only team a few key positions away from contending. That's the nature of the game.

That's what I think as well.

We all knew the OL was a problem going into this past off-season. Unfortunately, it looks like we need another 2 players on the OL. While the OL play will hopefully improve during the course of this season, I don't think the talent is there. We need 1 more off-season to build the OL like we re-built most of our Secondary this past season.

The issues with the OL is impacting our running game, passing game, our play calling, etc.

Last year we had 5 rushing TDs. It looks like we're on pace to have the same number this year. It is really unacceptable.

It is very difficult to evaluate our skill positions and coaches when the OL is a sieve.

We need better talent on the OL - and DL, imo. That should be the priority this coming off-season.

There's only one underachiever Jerry needs to dump. Himself.

I agree with you and I'm not a fan of Geno Smith he's another Andre Ware imo putting up video game like numbers only to be bust material in the NFL, but I will say this the rules today will make much easier for Smith to succeed moreso than it did for Ware.

What took so long? BTW what really needs to be drafted an autonomous GM. A guy who worked his way through the ranks and is respected through out the league.

:lmao: It is like you read my mind. Um, actually no, he is not on my short list.

Let's hope that Matt Johnson pans out, cause this team has been searching for a safety since 2004.

Then we can draft OL with every pick. How funny would that be?
