Draft Show from combine. Interesting talk of Vita having 3 tech traits

People up in arms about S.Jones saying if they took a 1 Tech in the first they would have to have 3 tech traits.

Some people wanted to say that ruled out Vita Vea. I said I don't think it does because I think he can play 3 tech in a pinch. Some disagreed.

Listen to the first five minutes of the above video. Basically said what I said that Vita does have 3 tech traits.

If Vita is there, they have to take him. I do not like the versatile stuff, but if this is the case with Vita, I am in. We need, ad must have that big body on the interior. Someone they can't move to the outside, then back inside. As long as he is on the interior, this would be great.

When I say versatile, it is that inside / outside crap, not just 1 tech / 3 tech. At least it is inside only.

Just because he might have 3 technique traits in general doesn’t mean that he’s a 3 technique in Marinelli’s defense. Don’t believe the Cowboys will have a 1st round grade on Vea.

In that the impact players that align with our biggest needs could get snatched up quickly. Leaving us to pick from players we don’t traditionally value (Vea), could get diminishing returns on (OL) potentially over draft (Hurst) or isn’t a huge separation from a deep pool (Ridley)

I've heard TE, SS, LB, DE, DL, WR, QB, OT, and OG as our BIGGEST need from people on this site. So basically CB, P, K, RB and C aren't our biggest need. LOL

Dallas needs to grade their own players. Grade the players in the Draft and see if the drafted player will raise the grade. Biggest upgrade wins and gets drafted, IMO.

Vea doesn't need to ever play the 3-tech. It's not about finding a guy who can play both spots.
What they want in a 1 tech is a guy who has some lateral and pass rush skills. If he's just a run-stuffer, they will wisely take that in later rounds. But in order to put a first round grade on a 1-tech guy, they wan't him to be able to pressure the QB, make tackles in the backfield, chase down the line in the run game. Those are not requirements for a 1-tech; the Cowboys just won't spend a first round pick on him unless he also brings that to the position. Drafting the 5th best run stuffer instead of the best run stuffer isn't going to impact your defense to the tune of the first round price unless he brings more to the table.

If we get that 2nd round pick for Irving, our 3rd can get us up as high as 15, should Vea fall that far. I would not mind that. We would still have 3 top 100 picks (top 60, really)

I remember we were targeting Star Lotulelie in 2013 for the same thing. A 1 Tech that had 3 tech traits
