Yeah I know there is still a couple picks left but I really wanted to go over what it is I think we put together here.

Our first pick was the offensive linemen we thought was the best available in the draft. We didn't want to risk dropping down and losing this kid. Romo got injured last year and the offense really struggled with pass and run blocking. It was the most obvious need and there weren't a lot of candidates available to fix this in free agency. This move is an endorsement of Tony Romo and the respect and faith the front office has for him.

Our second draft pick was identifying a need to improve our linebacker corps. Not so much our pass rush, rather our coverage. If healthy it's obvious where his place will be in our nickel defense and like Sean Lee its obvious that he will eventually replace Keith Brooking or Bradie James. James and Brooking are not long term. Brooking might not even have enough left in the tank for this coming year, we all saw him struggle towards the end of the season. There should be no more Brooking on 3rd down like we saw last year. There wasn't much break for either Brooking or James last year, but hopefully with Carter and Lee (year 2), there will be more rotation in the middle.

DeMarco Murray. Marion Barber is done. This is a fact. We shored up our running back corps with a new infusion of talent, speed, and skill. Rather than a bruiser, we're clearly looking at more speed in our offense.

David Arkin. Much like Sam Young, this guy was a full time starter his entire career in college. He might not start next year, but it wouldn't be surprising if he is coached up to be Holland's replacement and depending on how things work with Kosier, he could possibly step in if he gets hurt again. Again this is a move about Tony Romo. I said going into the draft, that I really hoped we would address the offensive line twice on the first day (1-3). We didn't get a guard in the 3rd round, but it's also about where the talent is in respect to where we are picking.

I don't have much to say about Thomas, but it was obvious that they thought he could add to the cornerback numbers, where we were too light. I wouldn't expect him to really push for a starting spot, but maybe will at some point compete with Scandrick.

Just like I had called for yesterday, a SLOT receiver. Harris will eventually help Tony Romo and I wouldn't be surprised if he quickly my a spot for himself on the team. I expect Roy Williams to be released and there is going to be a competition for that number 3 spot. It'll be between Ogletree and this kid. Not a bad choice.

This move, along with the total absence of an upper or mid-round selection at quarterback this week, will finally put our quarterback situation in its proper perspective for 2011--and probably several seasons to come.

Exactly. You don't draft quarterbacks when your franchise player (QB), needs as much helps as you can give him.

Don't waste a pick on another QB when you could have got a player that will either A)Make things easier for Romo on offense or B)Make the defense better so there is less pressure on Romo.

Don't get me wrong. My philosophy is drafting one quarterback at least every few years in the mid to late rounds to develop and churn depth at the roster position. However, you are correct that the team should maximize Tony Romo's pass protection while he is the number one franchise quarterback of this team.
