I know that teams cannot trade compensatory picks, but is there any rule that says that a team can't draft a player (at another team's request) and then trade that player to that team for draft picks? Seems a good way to get around the "no trade of compensatory picks" rule to me.

Someone with knowledge of these things please reply. Thanks, and happy draft day(s)!!!

No. There's no rule that prevents the players drafted with those picks to be traded. The pick itself cannot be traded, but not the player.

Teams can select a player and then immediately trade him to any other team if a deal has been agreed upon.

We picked OG Steve Wisniewski in '89 because we couldn't get a trade completed with the Raiders due to time on the clock. Wisniewski was immediately packaged to Al Davis for draft picks.

Thanks guys. Then comp picks can, in a way, be traded. I'm surprised it doesn't happen, or so it seems.
