7 million viewers for 1st round of NFL Draft for ESPN & NFL Network last night, down 15.6% from last year (8.3 million)

Pretty signficant. I was actually disappointed with NFLN's coverage last night, as well. They went to their b-team of reporters too quick and too often

Interesting. The lakers were on last night so that would take a hit. I don't remember what was on opposite the draft last year.

3 day draft is over kill. they should of atleast kept it to 2 days...saturday and sunday.

I bet I know why.

Lots of people affected. Finding loved ones and cleaning up after this has to be more important, plus how many people without power?

I'm sure that half hearted effort both networks have put into this years coverage is not going to help next years ratings either.

I still hate the Thursday night one-round draft.

Im not a big fan. I would rather see a two day format airing on Friday and Saturday with the first round going back to 15 minutes between picks.

7 million people watching billionaires select the next group of millionaires to play football ain't bad considering the devastation from the storms, the general mood of the country overall and the fact this isn't an actual game.

I don't think that's too shabby.

Oh yeah, there is no guarantee of an NFL SEASON!

The whole lockout thing likely caused that 15% drop. Add in the weather and I'm a tad surprised it wasn't more.

I prefer the new format. 3 days of draft. More hours of football talk. Ya'll are nuts.

Same here.

I think they can get the same bang for their buck going to a 2 day format with the 1st and 2nd round on Friday and bumping the time limit between picks. I heard more then a few people say deal were crushed because of time constraints.

Me too. I had to teach last night and didn't get to watch any of it.

The draft belongs on the weekend.

I was watch mostly the NFL Network then would switch over to ESPN to see the highlights of the player once he was chosen.

There were other teams besides the Lakers on last night. :laugh2:

Just sayin..

DVR'd both NFL Network and ESPN draft coverage. Hate to say it, but I thought ESPN was much better last night with their coverage.

I think NFLN blew their wad with too much pre-draft coverage. There was little enthusiam in the broadcast and very little real excitement, they all seemed tired

Thurday Night Sucks...Period.

The Draft belongs where it was...as Saturday and Sunday all day Marathons.
