Draft value chart

With Jethro (Stephen) in charge we may be better off with a chart showing the salary cap impact for each draft pick chosen. Stephen may be trying to trade down to get cheaper value picks in the draft. Quantity over quality. Jerry said it best when he said he got a 2 for 1 deal going with Fowler and Armstrong over Gregory.
 
It would be awesome if Jerry had the #1 overall pick and chose someone who was supposed to be an undrafted free agent. THAT, would be great! LOL
 
It's been said that Jimmy Johnson created the first draft value chart. I wonder if his went from 3000 to 600 in the first round?

This is why teams have a ton of scouts, coaches and a guy like Will McClay lol
 
Watch Dallas seriously overpay to move up in the draft while everyone else is underpaying to move up because everyone wants to trade down.

I'd be curious to see how they value next year's picks this year. For example how many points are assigned to our 2023 pick currently?

The rule of thumb is that you value them in the middle of the next round (so a 2023 1st would be worth about the same as the 48th pick, or 420 points. The actual trade data generally supports this, but I don't think teams lock that value in the way they stick to current-year chart values when making trades.

This is one of my fears that they will.
They only thing that may save it, if they trade away their 2nd round pick. They can't waste it on some injured or troubled player as usual. :laugh:

Thanks, I wonder if it would be better to swap ones and throw in next year's one instead of losing our first 3 picks this year? Fairly similar value I think.

Either way, I think I'd rather stay put. Despite SJs pretending we've plugged all our holes, we have a plethora of em.

Dallas usually does fine on value in trades.

Last year, Philly overpaid to go from 12 to 10.
The last time Dallas traded up in the 1st was 2012, when they went up to get Claiborne. Regardless of how the player worked out, the trade was a bargain by the chart. They gave up 1550 points to get 1600, when the team trading up usually has to pay a little bit of a premium.
The trades up to get Dez and Sean Lee in 2010 were both about right by the chart.
The counterexample is the DeMarcus Lawrence trade in 2014. Dallas overpaid for that move up.
