This is why teams have a ton of scouts, coaches and a guy like Will McClay lolIt would be awesome if Jerry had the #1 overall pick and chose someone who was supposed to be an undrafted free agent. THAT, would be great! LOL
The rule of thumb is that you value them in the middle of the next round (so a 2023 1st would be worth about the same as the 48th pick, or 420 points. The actual trade data generally supports this, but I don't think teams lock that value in the way they stick to current-year chart values when making trades.So basically if one of "our guys" slipped and we wanted to come up go Houstons pick @13, it would cost us our first 3 rounds this year. That's tough....
I'd be curious to see how they value next year's picks this year. For example how many points are assigned to our 2023 pick currently?
Watch Dallas seriously overpay to move up in the draft while everyone else is underpaying to move up because everyone wants to trade down.
