Draft Would You Rather Have?

Jaelen Phillips.

The one thing that would make me like Parsons a little more is if he can put his hand in the dirt and do something off the edge.

If I gave you 2 options before the draft which would you take.

Option A: Jaycee Horn and Nick Bolton
OR
Option B: Micah Parsons, Kelvin Joseph, and picked up an extra 3rd Chauncey Golston

This assumes Carolina would trade down for a third. If they wanted Horn, they're taking Horn.

Dallas traded down because their corners were gone.

The problem I see with this FOs approach to the draft is this: it seems to me like they just “draft good players” based on what’s available, rather than having a strong plan, philosophy of what they are looking for and stick to that plan over multiple years. To these guys, it’s a year to year thing, depending on who’s HC or DC.

The Jones boys draft like fantasy football owners. Just get some good players. That’s a very difficult approach to win a championship with.

In a 3-4 defense, he might be able to get to the QB.

Exactly. There is no guiding vision.

I'll take option B, but if I'm going to tweak anything using the Cowboys board and the direction they seem to be taking. I would have taken Lfeatu Melifonwu over Nahshon Wright, giving me what I consider a better secondary prospect with the desired length the staff seemed to be seeking.

This is true but when you keep hiring bad coaches and going through them how can you build continuity?

Option B but if you substitute JOK (who was available at 44) for Bolton, I would go with A.

The draft I'd rather have... Let me make all 10 picks we originally had before anyone else picks.

To answer your original question, I'd take option B.

Option B.

Parsons is better than Bolton and Joseph is on par with Horn; he just lacks Horn's experience. Anything the Cowboys get out of Golston only sweetens the deal.

I liked Surtain better than Horn, but Horn looked really competitive too. I felt like Horn was a reach where he was drafted and was one of those players that shot up the draft boards out of no where. That's often a concerning proposition but film looks strong. Horn has an edge over Joseph, but probably because of Josephs lack of experience and I wonder if he's committed to a long term NFL career.

Parsons looks head and shoulders above the rest so he pushes option B as my preference.
