Top Undrafted Free Agents
April 30, 2011 | Ryan McCrystal Every year great players go undrafted. Just to throw out an example – last year one of my top undrafted players was Blair White, a wide receiver out of Michigan State. I gave White a 3rd-round grade, but he slipped past everyone in the draft. The Colts eventually signed him and he played a key role for them down the stretch, catching 36 passes for 355 yards.
So who is this year’s Blair White? Here are the 72 players whom I gave draftable grades that did not hear their names called this weekend:

[Skerr41]

I was surprised when our final 7th wasn't K O'Dowd or J Kirkpatrick. I would like to bring in one of those 2.

Not on that list is DE Zane Parr. I hope we bring him in as well.

[supercowboy8]

only thing is we can't sign any until the lockout is over

[playmakers]

Noel Devine came into college as the suppose next Barry Sanders if anyone remembers. Now look at him.

[TheCount]

We need to get Alex Wujack, Kendric Burney, Mark Herzlich, Deunta Williams, David Mims and Brandon Bair on the horn ASAP.

Man, this sucks that we cant sign anybody until the lockout is over.

[JBell]

We need to get Maehl from Oregon. He's a baller.

Dude may not be fast, but he has elite acceleration and agility.

He set the record at the combine for the 3-cone drill.

Can't believe he didn't get drafted.

[Idgit]

A lot of teams passed--seven times--on a number of players here that our CZ draft experts thought were sure-fire picks. Goes to show you how little people who write for draft publications and NFL blogs really know about the number and quality of players available in an NFL draft. Should add more perspective for anyone still pissed about the players we *did* get. Wait and see before responding one way or another.

Untrue...........there's nothing that a little under the table money can't accomplish

better not get caught,

When the league starts signing UDRFAs, here are some for the Boys to target:

QB-- Zack Eskridge, Midwestern State... they had him in for Dallas Day...

RB-- Donald Buckram, UTEP... gained 1500 yards as a junior, had his senior season ruined by a knee injury a week before the start of the season...

FB -- Preston Dial, Alabama...

TE-- Schuylar Oordt, Northern Iowa...

WR-- Andre Holmes, Hillsdale...

OL-- Zach Hurd, Connecticut... with all the offensive linemen they drafted, and all the defensive players they didn't, I don't see the Boys signing a lot of UDRFA linemen like they generally do...

DL-- Zane Parr, Virginia... Ian Williams, Notre Dame... Cedric Thornton, Southern Arkansas... yes, I see the Boys bringing in 2 or 3 UDRFA defensive linemen...

LB-- Marc Schiechl, Colorado School of Mines... Bryan Braman, West Texas A&M... Alex Wujciak, Maryland... and yes, I'd bring in 3 linebackers...

DB-- Deunta Williams, North Carolina... Ryan Jones, Northwest Missouri State... Antareis Bryan, Baylor... Collin Zych, Harvard... no, I don't think bringing in 4 DBs would be overkill...

For those who are counting, that's 10 defensive players that I'd try real hard to bring to camp...

K-- Kai Forbath, UCLA...

My hunch is that Preston Dial, Andre Holmes, Zach Hurd, Marc Schiechl, Alex Wujciak, Deunta Williams and Ryan Jones will all be hotly sought after... the others, not so much...

Thanks Joe!
