Drafting 26th who you got

Here's one some of you may hate. I was thinking "outside of the box," though, for this one. Just to give it a different feel.
I'm taking the elite RB over 2nd tier ones. Robinson is most likely to be off the board anyway.
Then I'm looking at Gibbs and Zach Charbonnet in the 2nd round if Gibbs is also gone.
I really like that RB from Tulane thats blowing up the Shrine game practices.
You're right. Robinson is most likely off the board. But I'm not sure if he's the kind of back the Cowboys need. Sometimes, when a back does very well, they tend to overvalue them, which I can see happening with Robinson.

I think Chase Brown also fits the Cowboys style of running backs. Big and fast, like Robinson and you can get him later.

I did this mock with the idea of thinking "outside of the box," and this is what it came up with.

Also, I realize Bijan Johnson is a stud. But so is Roschon Johnson. He's also the proverbial right kind of guy.

I seen his entire college career. He would start on 80% of every other college team. I love the guy as a Cowboy

best rated olineman or cb. Draft Gibbs or Hyatt in rd 2.

Elite RBs do nothing to get a team over the hump. All of the top 3 rushers this year didn’t even make the playoffs.

You have to be able to run the ball but you don’t need to use premium picks on a RB to do it.

It takes the Cowboys having elite RBs to get them over the hump. They are an exception to the rule. The Cowboys had an elite RB on every one of their Super Bowl teams. Even Duane Thomas had great stats the year they played the Colts in the Super Bowl . Zeke was elite his rookie year and Murray was the best RB in the league that year . They weren't the reason they didn't get over the hump.
Ill take my chances with an elite RB.

Yea when I watched him at first nothing stood out but looking closer, he seems to have a little something. Much more on his tape than Tolberts
Well stop looking at highlight videos. They're made to make them look good

That was almost 30 years ago…and our recent RBs that have been good have done nothing to get us over the hump. Hard, hard pass.

There's more than RBs not getting us over the hump. That's just one position. What keeps us under the hump was defensive play and QB play.
There is no one in this draft that can walk in on day one and dominate like Bijan.

The FO is what has kept us from getting over the hump IMO. Just can’t build a championship caliber team. Taking a RB top 5 and then paying him massive money was just an awful, awful move and is case in point.

I love Bijan. Think he’s an absolute stud and will likely be a top 5 RB. I just think it’s an awful use of a pick when you can add a premium position for cheap for 5 years and a productive RB is the easiest position in football to add to the roster.

I’d love to be able to take him in the 3rd. He would pair up really well with Pollard, if he’s retained.

Barring any new additions on FA, O’Cyrus Torrence would be my top pick, followed by Jaxon Smith-Njigba. If Mayer is available he’d be my top pick.

There’s a ton of DL talent in this draft and I’m very interested in seeing who falls.

Jalen Carter
Will Anderson
Tyree Wilson
Myles Murphy
Lukas Van Ness
Bryan Breese

Could Van Ness or Breese fall to us? Way too early to tell, but entirely possible.

Plus guys like Keion White and Isaiah Foskey are extremely interesting on the fringe of possible BPA

And we could still possibly go with an EDGE/Pass rush specialists like Nolan Smith or BJ Ojulari could.

That’s 10 potential defensive game changers with only 24 picks ahead of us. I like our chances of getting another disrupter on the D-line.

I will also say no thanks to any WR available at pick 26. I just don’t like the high end talent in the WR class. No one sticks out as special in terms of NFL talent. I think Mayer for sure, and possibly Kincaid, will make bigger impacts in the passing game than all but 1 or 2 of these WR’s.

Not a big fan of Van Ness or Breese.

Van Ness seems like a power rusher and that just rarely translates to the NFL.

I don’t know what to think about Breese. He clearly has 1st round traits but his production is mediocre and he’s had some injuries. I wouldn’t be surprised if he falls out of the 1st:

I understand the concern with Breese, injuries and consistency are fair criticisms. I just think he has high end talent when he’s right, but a risk for sure.

Disagree on Van Ness. The kid is an explosive athlete. It doesn’t help that he was used at a 3 tech as often as he was a DE, but he has an explosive get off for sure. At 6’5 275 he definitely isn’t the bendy pure pass rusher like some others, but length, speed, and strength always play. Reminds me of Ryan Kerrigan. I think he’s similar but more athletic than Karlaftis was last year who went in the 1st and had 6 sacks starting every game as a rookie.
