Looking at a lot of the linked mock drafts vs the people in here posting.

The linked drafts rarely show an RB going before pick 12 to the Browns.

Where in the people here mocks - but top two are gone in the first 7 picks.

Does one group know more than the other?

They are all guesses.

I don't think a lot of pundits put a ton of thought into the teams and their actual composition before their mocks.

Regular Joes probably over think it sometimes, mainly because they are not familiar with all the teams.

Biggest problem I see from fans is that they tend to take whatever mock draft, or consensus of, to be legitimate.

All in all, unless you really get into it, and really follow the process, it is easy to get caught up into following along with the current wave.

It is still just very inexact, which is why it is so fascinating each and every year.

I enjoy the process.

I see a lot of mocks giving the Jets and Panthers either Fournette or Cook. I've seen very few that has dropped both below the 10th pick.

Having said what I did above, there's a psychology about mock drafts. When you view them, you're expecting a different line up. You don't want to see the same picks.
That's why Mel Kiper releases multiple mock drafts (which you have to pay for, BTW). He's working on the psychology of the average draft fan to anticipate something new. It gives them hope.

Wellll.....taking a RB high in the draft NEVER works out well so there's that.

Most media people don't put much effort into mocks this early. Nothing will be close to accurate until after the combine. The next step after that is March when free agency starts. If a team signed a QB in FA, then the media will quit mocking a QB to that team.

After the combine you will see their mocks refined, players will rise and fall as the hype machine cranks up.

Got that right.

RBs are a dime a dozen.

You can get a good one late in the draft.

Anyone can run behind this line.

Etc.

Excellent point.

I believe most of us if not all get caught up in what the Kiper, McShay, Miller, and Maylock of the world believe are the best players. They do an immense amount of research and film study on these players but as every team can see that doesn't tell the whole story, see Dak Prescott for one.

Take Willie McClay for Dallas and how Dallas evaluates players. It is about what Garrett and staff want at the particular positions, what they want most of the time in character, work ethic, athletic ability, upside, and football intelligence. This is why Dallas has only 15 to 20 guys rated as 1st round picks. It is not say this year there will not be a QB in those 15 odd spots but most likely it will not include one because Dallas doesn't need one. I doubt if we could see there board that a RB will be in those picks either. Now every other position including OL will be there if McClay and staff have them rated as 1st round guys.

Also Dallas only rates around 150 guys not 300+ by the analyst and other teams. And if we the stolen photos of the draft board is correct then every one of our picks were in that 150 rated guys, yes even Gathers. It is due diligence by the scouting department to the max. The analysts rate guys based on their own system and decide who would be best for a team on the clock, and frankly that is why we watch the draft not only to see who our team chooses but to hear what the analyst say. Every one of the analyst cursed Dallas for taking Jaylon Smith and most fans did also but the tune will change if his doctor and Jerry Jones are right.

Most of us have given up on Randy Gregory but the team has not. The two drug test he failed were not because of drugs but because of missed tests and he tested clean the day after the missed test. Is it Randy's fault he missed them, absolutely but if the team is correct and he has been on the straight and narrow then he could pay off plus Jerry is insisting that the suspension may be "downgraded" whatever that means.

It will be very interesting to see who Dallas brings in for visits because we all know that is when we should be doing our mock drafts because normally several of those guys will end up being drafted by Dallas. Everything up to then is purely GUESS WORK.

Leonard Fournette is a generational talent. He is a steal at #8 to the Panthers.
