** John Murphy of Scout.com just posted this on Yahoo! NFL:
"Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese may trade first-string running back Chris Brown – or allow him to seek a deal with teams in need of backs with starting experience – according to a source close to [Chris] Brown... Reese has not given Brown permission to pursue trades, but Brown would be an excellent target for teams looking for an experienced back, such as the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans."
** Let's stop right here. We don't know much about Murphy but he's a regular NFL contributor at Yahoo! and attends the Combine every year to research his rookie draft guide. Our Titans sources haven't confirmed any of this yet. We do know Chris Brown isn't a favorite of Jeff Fisher because he won't take cortisone shots like Eddie George used to do. And he's in the last year of his contract. With LenDale White and Travis Henry (both playing for pennies) on board it really makes sense. But Murphy's not finished here...
"A league source said that the Broncos have been associated with another veteran running back – T.J. Duckett of Atlanta – as part of a potential three-team trade. The deal would also send Broncos wide receiver Ashley Lelie to the New England Patriots, while Denver would receive Patriots tight end Daniel Graham and Duckett. The Falcons would receive undisclosed draft choices from both teams."
** Okay, now it's getting interesting. The Broncos front office is completely trade-happy so nothing would shock us. They did that 3-way deal with Atlanta & NYJ involving 1st-round picks and DE John Abraham. They traded up to get Jay Cutler. They even swapped Clinton Portis for Champ Bailey. It's common knowledge that Mike Shanahan doesn't view Tatum Bell as a 20-carry back. Duckett is a better version of Ron Dayne who could keep Bell fresh.
More news as we get it...
