Draft tek just put up there new draft which I was surprised by who they had the cowboys picking. I think that if the draft went this way the Cowboys got very good value in most of the picks. Here is what they had us drafting:

2. Alphonso Smith CB (passed on Louis Delmas)
3. Duke Robonson G
4a. TJ Lang OG/OT
4b. Tony Fiammetta Fb (Too high in my opinion)
5a. Chris Clemons FS
5b. Cornelius Lewis OT (Tennesse St.)
5c. Edwin Williams OC (Maryland)
6a. Roy Miller DT
6b. Johnny Knox Wr
7a. Tom Brandster QB (Fresno St.)
7b. Phillip Hunt Olb

I think getting Smith and Robinson would be huge steals. I can't see them dropping that far. I like the both the 6th round picks as well as getting chris clemons at the 5th spot and Hunt with the 7th pick. I do not know about Lewis and Willimas. I would not be upset if it turn out his way but I am concerned that we did not draft an ILB to at least compete with Barbie.

they have this dumb computer system that is simply ********. Why would we take 4 OL???
Pass on Delmas for Smith ??/ Dumb
No ILB , a major need - dumb

i think they are going by the ideal of taking the best player available

Nope. They weight positions and the issue right now if they weight them incorrectly.

If you go in and custom rate the needs you'll see the defaults are rather silly.

They do assign you the highest rated player but only if you have that positional need graded out to a certain level.

At last check they had CB just as high as FS which is why we take Alphonso Smith there instead of a safety.

When I edit our positional scoring needs and remove their inane grabs(how we got the fullback in r4 btw) I get a mock I love.

Makes sense tho as I edited the needs to what I believe them to be.

My settings: 6 for QB, 3 for WRSlot, 3 for WR flanker, 4 for all OL positions,
9 for everything else.
3-4 OLB 3, 3-4 DE 4, 3-4 DT 3, FS 3, CB 5, SS 6, 3-4 ILB 4, all else 9.

0 grabs or lockouts.

Results:

51 Louis Delmas

**If we had 52 we would presumably take Paul Kruger as he is the next guy taken who meets a prio of 3 or higher for us.

69 Louis Murphy

101 Jason Williams -- they rank him OLB 3-4 so we would not take him if we did take Kruger above.

117 Christopher Owens, CB, San Jose St.

156 Nate Davis

166 Johnny Knox Slot WR

172 Chris Baker Hampton 3-4 DT.

197 Cornelius Lewis OT Tenn State

208 Roger Allen OG Western Missouri

227 Worrell Williams Cal ILB

ok its a slow day and the draft is less than 2 weeks away so I am addicted to this draft sim:)

I don't think we draft 12 guys so I have us make a very fair trade, weighted slightly to the other team. Picks 117, 166 and 208 to Kansas City for pick 102.

Figure KC needs more picks and giving us back to back r4's I love!

51. Louis Delmas
52. Paul Kruger
69. Louis Murphy
101. Deangelo Smith CB Cincy
102. Trevor Canfield OG Cincy
156. John Parker Wilson
172. Johnny Knox
197. Roy Miller DT
210. Keith Fitzhugh
227. Garrett Renyolds, OT

2nd, possible another 2nd with miles Austin going to jets, so im going to add a extra 2nd rounder here;
Thus we take Louis Delmas S 2nd
We trade down our 52nd pick to about the 61st, we recoup a 2nd, 3rd and 5th.
61st pick we take Duke Robinson OG
69th pick we take Lawrence Sidbury DE/LB
77th pick we take Jason Williams OLB, can play ILB too
117th pick we take T j Lang OT
156th pick we take Bret Bomar QB
We then trade one of the 7th picks and 5th pick take OT Sebastian Vollmer OT by moving up
We trade another 5th rounder to recoup a 5th rounder in 2010
With other 5th rounder we take Johnny Knox WR
6th pick we take Sammie Hill NT
6th pick we take Captain Munnerlyn CB
7th pick we take Roy Miller NT
7th final pick we take Roger Allen OG

Not sure we didn't get one. We lose Appleby I guess because we lose pick 208.

If we have 208 we take Fitzhugh there and then free up ILB for 210.

I have SS at a 6 and ILB at a 4... but I might need to move ILB to a 3.
