Not sure if there are any Dragonage fans out there, but I'm wondering how people feel about this latest Dragon Age game.
It's the "game of the year" and such I guess.
Dragon Age: Origins was one of my all times favorite RPG's. Some of the best character and storyline interactions I've come across.
Dragon Age 2, while a step down from the high Bar Origins set, was still, imo, a fantastic game with an amazing story and characters.
This Inquisition game though.. just absolute crap so far. I have about 20 hours put into this game. It essentially feels like a single player MMO. Just a huge huge time sink filler game, endless fetch and collection quests. The storyline and character aspects are still there, but there's so much time spent doing random crap in between any sort of story progression that it just makes it incredibly frustrating.
Everything has been dumbed down, from tactics and combat , to spells and abilities. It's a mishmash of things that were popular from other games. Huge elements from Skyrim added, large pieces of games like Diablo III (combat/potion system). I Just feel like this game took everything that made the DA series unique, and scrapped it to be more like other games.
I wont' get into the fact that this game is CLEARLY a console game, that got ported (and horribly so) to PC. The controls/camera views/menu's are just god awful on PC, but I'll let that be.
Part of me feels like this game is just absolute garbage, the other part of me feels like maybe games like these have just passed me by. I'm 30 now. Is this what people really want from their RPG games? Collecting 20 of x item, kill 20 of x enemy, repeatedly, for an entire game? 5-10 hours in between any type of cutscene or plot elements? Very very little character/companion interaction? Mindless grinding to unlock stuff?
I love all this stuff in an MMO.. but not an offline RPG. Is it just me or do other people feel this game is completely lack luster and an insult to the Dragon Age franchise?
