Drake London signs $141M/4yr. Pickens next

How about we do Watson over in Green Bay did he reset the market Nope Different situations for different players I don't care how we view George or how George views himself along with his agent He is in a situation where he got himself into because Pittsburgh didn't trust him and trading him away for a 3rd and now he's on a franchise tag trying to Rebuild trust in his reputation that's it.

Not because he's not talented that anybody who thinks he's gonna get JSN money well he's got a long ways to wait for that because if he stays with the Cowboys under the tag or stays with Lamb on this team he's not getting paid that kind of money he will have to give a team friendly deal to remain here but he also would have to make some compromises to get traded for compensation that's if he's tagged again or if it happens this year under the tag they have to give two first or the Cowboys will demand Quite a bit of Hall even if they compromise on the two firsts..

So yes we can use these examples oh Drake London got paid blah blah blah well so did Christian Watson and there you go making the same exact money as George Pickens He's a starter over in Green Bay...

Means that starter money as well, Does everybody feel and they get in their feelings about how players all need to set the market reset the market get top money highest paid non quarterback garbage there have been players all over this league that have been as good or better than George that have taken team friendly deals because it's still going to make them filthy rich...

Yeah let's start here maybe George is right in his market christian Watson I mean look at some of the other receiver money that's been below JSN.. In my humble opinion and I'm not so humble, If he really wants to stay here or if he wants to get on a team elsewhere he's going to have to compromise on price and I don't think this guy should be demanding any more than 34 and that's the high end for me..

If he doesn't feel he can maintain a healthy financial lifestyle at 32-34 It has to press the market then it's going to be a while so stop feeling bad for George, I'll never understand how some players just for ego reasons have to be the highest paid non quarterback in the league it used to be if you could just get them in the top 10 or maybe the top five and money they were happy those contracts get signed pretty quickly..

You must understand your situation and George is in one of those he will have to compromise or he might get stuck on the tag again next year And what makes George better next year that somebody's going to give up to first any more than right now would it be cheaper to give up 2 first now and get in before the market climbs?

But he really wanted George all they need to do is make any offer and not a single offer has been made you don't have to offer 2 1st it might get shot down but hey how about offer what they gave for Waddle We're watching players get traded all over the place and no one's made a single offer for George just because I don't believe they trust him yet but it's because he wants the market we don't know what David's asking for but we saw the situation with Parsons so my guess is he wants to be paid like JSN And he's not gonna get it not yet that might be two more years one more tag after this year then he's a free agent...

Giving Pickens a long term contract for a ton of money would be an abject disaster for this team.

Some players you don't give power because they will take advantage of you with it. He's a classic example.

Likely gone after this season.

Flournoy doesn’t need any pump up help. He’ll make his own sorry for you.
Some posters love to talk crap for no reason.

I dont even know what you’re talking about, i love Flournoy but that has nothing to do with my post.

I mean damn “sorry for you” lol

As long as the team accepts the same level of commitment from Pickens that they show him everything is fine. The tag in 2027 is around $33 million for the season. Things could be worse for poor George.

Sans the security of a long term deal he may play tentative. He may take measures to not get injured. That’s the trade off in deference to utilizing the franchise tag. Certainly the Cowboys understand the pros and cons of the tag. They’ve used it in the past. They know what they’re doing.

I'm curious what will play out,,, in my mind, Dallas is wanting to see another solid year from GP to prove he can do it and still be on his best behavior, then they'll pay him. Not attending OTAs, while often expected from players getting tagged, doesn't help GP's case when they're looking for best behavior. He needs to show up and make them feel good about a giant contract.

I'll be shocked if they sign him here. They'll print pump up flournoy all year
Nothing to do with your post? Did you forget that quickly? Dementia?

Do teams ever have to prove themselves to players? Darren Benson will be 52 years old this August.

If GP balls out again I'd tag him again, try to get a 1st for him. If not, he can play on it again. Two years averaging 30M per year isn't bad if he's playing like that.

No, of course they don't. The player doesn't own the team. They have no say unless the team risks a big contract on them.

It's up to player to prove they're worthy of that commitment and trust on and off the field.

That's why the Steelers told GP to kick sand.

Or they become free agents and leave because they’re convinced the Cowboys will never win a Super Bowl. Precisely because the team did prove itself to the player. Not like it hasn’t happened.

Man I’m not some ridiculous internet fight that you seem to enjoy. You intimated I was saying something negative about Flournoy, which had nothing to do with what i said.

But nice one making fun of people with dementia.

Players are just traded commodities that drift a while until they're replaced.

Just like stocks in a portfolio. They're all disposable.

That might be what's said outwardly. The real reason is cash. Lamb got 100M guaranteed, Pickens is getting 27M. There's your reason. If they tag him again, all the more proof. They're willing to take big cap hits to save money. You don't do that for behavioral reasons.

It's not about the cap, it's about the real dollars. Had they given him a 4 year deal when they got him, his cap hits would be less than half of what they will be on the tag. With most likely an out built into the contract after the 3rd year.

Bingo. It’s a business first, football second approach to running the organization. If they tag him twice they will have basically given him close to the same amount of guaranteed money over two years as what they could get over a four year extension….plus they’d have cap room to play with for 2026.

If the Cowboys didn’t tag George Pickens he’d be with another team. That is the Dallas Cowboys’ reality.

Not for much money. Nobody wants to commit to him.

Dallas tagged him to get a pick for him, but nobody called.
