Dress Rehearsal? Not really. So don't panic. Or get too excited.

Does the 3rd preseason game matter? Data says no. Mike Tanier of Bleacherreport did an in-depth study, and it's mildly facsinating: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...sals-can-be-more-misleading-than-enlightening

I researched the Cowboys's past 10 preseason "Dress Rehearsals" and below are the results.

Most Recent Playoff Teams:

2014:
Opponent: Dolphins
Halftime Score: Cowboys 6 Fins 3
Final: FIns 25 Boys 20

2009:
Oppponent: 49ers
Halftime Score: Boys 10 49ers 3
Fina1: 9ers 20 Boys 13

2007:
OPponent: VIkes
Halftime Score: Boys 14 Vikes 17
Final: Vikes 23 Boys 14

2006:
Opponent: VIkes
Halftime Score: Vikes 7 Boys 3
Final: Boys 10 VIkes 10 (wow, what a horrible pre-season game).

Losing Teams:
2015:
Opponent: Vikes
Halftime Score: Boys 14 Vikes 13
Final: Vikes 28 Boys 14

2013:
Opponent: Bengals
Halftime Score: Boys 14 Bengals 7
Final: Boys 24 Bengals 18

2012:
Opponent: Rams
Halftime Score: Boys 20 Rams 6
Final: Boys 20 Rams 19

2011:
Opponent: VIkes
Halftime Score: Boys 17 Vikes 10
Final: Boys 23 VIkes 17

2010:
OPponent: Texans
Halftime Score: Texans 13 Boys 0
FInal: Texans 23 Boys 7

2008:
Opponent: Texans
Halftime Score: Boys 20 Texans 10
Final: Boys 23 Texans 22

THe conclusion is there is no conclusion to be made. In the COwboys's 4 most recent playoff appearances, they were ahead at the half in 2, and trailed in 2. In their 6 most recent non playoff seasons, they were ahead at the half in 5 and losing in 1. The only real conclusion to draw is that without Romo this team is doomed. Hopefully Prescott will change that should it come up again in 2016.

I want our D to have a decent showing for the 1st and 2nd team guys. At least show some good things to take off the edge a bit.
Even though a PS game, no planning, it will still go a long way to see the D show something good.

Couldn't give a rip about the results.

I want two things tonight.

1. Health

2. A couple nice totes by Zeke.

Seriously. What do the scores at halftime and at the end have to do with anything?

That "dress rehearsal" game is from the old days of pretend ball. Can't base anything off what we will see tomorrow night because the coaches are not game planning as they do in the regular season, it's all vanilla. They may give more playing time to the starters but compare how they play to the opening game for which they're getting a real game check and can't catch an injury settlement for this season.

Hopefully, "The Legend of Dak Prescott" will grow even larger and give the analysts something more to talk about. Wanna bet Dak isn't Faulk's favorite player?

I am looking forward to seeing our #1 pick tote the rock and not limp and am really hoping Romo doesn't get a turnover and give this simmering QB controversy more gas.

I will watch but put no stock in the results. If Elliot looks good or bad, doesn't mean a thing. If Dak trips a little or lights it up, you can't read too much into it. Pre-season is for evaluation.

Not yet, thought I'd give it awhile. Nice to see ya' posting Coach. I see you got your screen named fixed. You must be a closet Dez fan throwing up the X like that.

Thanks for the work...all that accumulates serves a purpose and helps to explain specifics of a variety of circumstances.

Directionally, the games are relevant. The team has to come together adequately to start off challenging an opponent once the first regular season game whistle is sounded. A team can get behind in a hurry, if they aren't quite ready.

The Giants should be very interesting once they have to deal with an opening game against the Cowboys.

I want disciplined well-executed football no slop , no pre-snap penalties, because that tends to carry over to the season.

The results don't really mean anything but the individual performances mean everything.

Ha, didn't make the connection, maybe I should have left it alone.
