No it's the arm...he was throwing one-winged ducks all game Sunday.

I think it's a little more than that. He doesn't have a good oline anymore and he is just simply gotten older.

Yeah, you're both right about that, too. Those problems will persist even if he plays against us. As I said, that game is winnable, with or without him.

He didn't look "bad" imo, but he didn't look the same..... Mentioned that in a thread this summer... someone immediately got angry, and started quoting all of these numbers..... I'm thinking "shut up and watch the games, you fantasy guru".

That high powered offense sounds great but it's hell on a QBs arm, they got a SB out of it so it's a win for the organization but Brees will never be able to put up those kind of numbers again.

It's not so much that he can't put up the numbers. He simply suffers from poor o-line play and a pedestrian (at best) receiving corp. Bad drafting, bad contracts and not running the ball have caused 3 of the last 4 seasons to end in abject failure. If things continue on their current course you look for Ryan to be fired at least...maybe even Loomis. I do think that Payton and Brees are safe but I don't know how deep the loyalty runs with Drew. They have the most dead money in the league iirc, and they will still have some on next year's tab. Galette, Graham, Stills, Byrd, Grubbs and Lofton...players with fat contracts that have delivered little for the Saints over the last four years. Only Byrd remains, with swelling in his knee continuing to sideline him since incurring injury last year.

I hope he's out. ..we don't need pride or being a good sport here, leave that for the pep talks and the stories we tell the kids. We need to survive this stretch without Romo and if Brees is out then I'll cheer to that.

Amen. I seriously can't stand when people say, "I'd rather beat them full strength." Shut up and take the win.

All the talk about Peyton Mannings decline has taken away the discussion of Brees declining play. He use to be SCARY. No more.

Very true.
Edit: I remember when he went to Westlake High.
I went to Bowie, in South Austin and was a senior, I believe when he was a freshman.
Crockett was supposed to be our rivals, but they sucked back then.
We salivated over Westlake.

Westlake was an incredible High School football power back then in the early/mid 90's.
Basketball too...
I don't follow centex football any longer so I don't know what the case is over there any more.

I played basketball back then, but my best friend at the time was a DB and got a sack on a CB Blitz on him and even back then, my boy Aaron talked about it like he tackled Dez.

Funny. Now I bet his story, all these years later is ten times better.

I didn't need to read past the first line. I've said that all my life. That's why I'm a Cowboys fan.

But yeah. I think Brees is on the decline. And I think we beat them, with or without him.

Seeing how Luke McCown is playing today, we might want to hope Drew Brees is back next week.
