I thought that I would compare Drew Pearson's numbers with his primary Hall of Fame receiver contemporaries to see if his numbers are somewhat comparable with HOFers and if his omission thus far is warranted or not

Pearson
Seasons among the league's top 10
Receptions: 1974-3, 1976-4, 1977-9t
Receiving yards: 1974-2, 1975-5, 1976-10, 1977-1, 1979-8
Receiving TDs: 1975-6t, 1979-8t

Charlie Joiner
Seasons among the league's top 10
Receptions: 1979-4t, 1980-5t, 1981-9t
Receiving yards: 1976-3, 1980-4, 1981-6
Receiving TDs: 1971-5t, 1976-7t, 1977-9t
Similar standings to Pearson, although Pearson finished in the top ten in yards, Joiner had one more season with more Touchdowns similar

John Stallworth
Receptions: 1979-6, 1984-4t, 1985-8
Receiving yards: 1977-5, 1979-2, 1981-10, 1984-2
Receiving TDs: 1977-6t, 1978-4t, 1979-8t, 1982-3, 1984-4

Lynn Swann
Receptions: 1977-7t, 1978-7t
Receiving yards: 1975-8, 1977-4, 1978-7
Receiving TDs: 1975-1t, 1977-6t, 1978-2

The qualifications for the three inducted are very similar to Pearson's. What do they have that Pearson doesn't?

Swann's numbers are particularly pedestrian but he made the HOF based on getting lucky three times against Mark Washington, while Stallworth was just a solid performer for his whole career- had Stallworth played on a more pass oriented team, ala Joiner, he would have had better numbers (same as Irvin and Pearson), Swann, I'm not so sure would have. Pearson was a superior receiver to Swann, Stallworth, and Joiner.

Swann's number stink. It is a joke that someone like Art Monk and Big number 88, The Playmaker, aren't in. I didn't realize until today that Swann NEVER even had a 1,000 yard season. That is a joke!

The ONLY player that was voted in the All Decade Team of the 70's that is NOT in the hall is Pearson. This place is really becoming a joke.

Stop comparing against the WORST players in the hall. Compare against the average. That's a fair comparison. You could probably find far more players who have Pearson's stats and AREN'T in the Hall

Bugger off troll.

Pearson is being compared to his contemporaries, WRs who played in the same era as him and he compares most favorably with them.

Go back to the Cardinal forum where you belong.

Wrong. You're supposed to measure him against his contemporaries from the 70s and early 80s.

Precisely. It's hardly fair to compare Pearson's numbers to people in the past twenty years when the game has changed so much from then

Here's another guy with Pearson's stats that isn't in the Hall: Tony Hill. Oops. ;)

Who among that group is NOT in the HOF?

Other than the Kicker & Punter (who are essentially part time players) only Drew Pearson and Cliff Harris are NOT in the HOF.

Tell me again about there being no anti-Cowboys bias.

Where's that troll, answer me on this one.
