DROY candidates head-to-head

LVE is probably 2nd or 3rd just going by stats, but I don't think stats will be the only thing that determines who wins. I have to be honest, I've never heard of Darius Leonard until right now. How much does popularity come in to play with the DROY vote? Because LVE has played lights out on several nationally televised games, when everyone including other players are watching. Leonard appears to be a stud, but since he plays for the Colts, many people (like me) haven't seen him play.

Don't think it works that way with rookies like it does for the MVP where players get veteran votes if they've been good for a while. Unless the rookie is like a Burfict or something they'll probably be judged moreso on merit.

I like LVE but if I could do it all over again, I think I'd still prefer James. But that's splitting hairs at this point.

Leonard, James, LVE is how i would rank it

cant complain about that, LVE is a stud
Leonard
Chubb
LVE
James
Is how I’d put it
Chubb is having a great rookie year and could end up winning with two or three more sacks

Same. Truly is a loaded defensive rookie class.
If LVE can get 2 sacks and another int or two then it could be tighter. But Leonard and Chubb have played more snaps and have produced.

I think Chubb ends up getting it. He's sitting at 12 sacks right now, and looking it up, Denver finishes the year against the Browns (trash LT), Oakland (trash LT), and the Chargers (don't actually know, but Rivers was getting sacked a ton last night). 15 sacks isn't out of the question for Chubb, which would just be mind boggling for a rookie. And he's putting up good pressure rate stats too so he's not just getting lucky with a few big plays. Dude is the real deal.

But yeah, just a tough year for LVE. If he was in the league last year, he very well may have won it, but there is a lot of competition this year. Vander Stud, Leonard, Chubb, James, and Ward would all have a great chance to win the award most seasons.
