    True story.

When I used to get heartburn. Heartburn medications (like Tums, etc) used to make me get heartburn more often. One day, I went without and the heartburn stopped coming back.

Me either. I'm of the opinion that pharma should not allowed to be commercialized. I wouldn't doubt for a second they've created stuff to completely cure something, but do not release it because it will eliminate a revenue stream.

The only reason they care about people, is because people pay for the medication. Screw them and healthy living.

Add the list of BP meds they had to pull off the shelves.

There is this cushion of comfort that some people have because of what they think the FDA does, just like they think there's a health inspector in the kitchen of their favorite restaurant keeping watch. All you have to do is consider the first word of the FDA to assume it's not on top of it.

Years ago, Celebrex, an inflammatory drug, came out to rave reviews, except for some possible long term side effects but it took off like Viagra sales. Merck saw that and quickly developed Vioxx to counter Celebrex and smooth out some of those side effects and they went on a concerted campaign to get docs to change over, with rewards of course, as my Dad's doc did. After Vioxx had been out for a couple of years, they noticed one slightly alarming side effect, heart attacks and strokes. This med was one of the most fast tracked drugs in FDA history. Well, they got lawsuits, had to stop making it but no one was asking the tough questions, how did this happen so fast?

The Zantac thing is different as that is ingredient driven because they are discovering new cancer agents constantly that they were unaware of before. The greatest hoax played on the public to get more money from them is that we are beating cancer. New carcinogens are showing up and mutations increasing because it will not die. It knows that we will keep it alive through our lifestyle enriching ways. Hey, don't pull weeds like they used to have to do, that's hard work, use Round-Up. And let's make sure we use pesticides against the enemy we can see and strengthen the one we can't.

OK, pissed off rant over but nothing frustrates me more than knowing it does not have to be this way. There are enemies not of our creation but we've created the worst ones. And too often in the effort to defeat the ones we can see.

Have you ever noticed the audio level when they start to mention that list of possible side effects, it's the same as the required info on car ads. I know, we put as DB meter on it and my guy sent the report to the FDA, FTC and FCC and they replied that they'd look into and get back to him. That was 10 years ago and he's still waiting.

No entity that can affect the public health should be allowed to lobby.

Take Zantac to prevent heartburn/future risk of Barretts/Esophageal cancer only to get another type of cancer.

    Fun times.

One thing I have learned is that in many cases (not very serious health issues of course) it's better to treat what's causing your health issues rather than trying to mitigate the symptoms with medicine.

Losing weight, eating better and drinking water more often really helps improve a lot of issues that people tend to accept as age-related and treat with OTC medicine.

I agree. I have often said we have a disease management system, not a healthcare system.

I find it sad. I currently do not take any pharmaceuticals (I am 53). I am a big believer in Cannabis, that plant has helped me with some medical issues.

Whenever I think big pharma has gone wrong is the opioids crisis.

I think the blame for the opiod crisis is split between the pharmaceutical companies and doctors.

I don't blame pharma for creating or manufacturing opiods, but rather for ignoring the massive increase in prescriptions and demand for their drugs. There is no way they did not know what was going on. They may have not caused the problem, but they were fully aware of it and chose to do nothing to help or self-mitigate it.

Doctors and clinical networks (many of which are hospital owned now) deserve the most blame because they are the gatekeepers of opiods and too many of them have an open-gate policy.

This is what worries me about these energy drinks. I definitely have a problem with them. I'm not a fan of coffee, so, I've always turned to these for my morning caffeine injection. Every single day. Thing is with these drinks, they're all relatively new, so I don't think we know what the long term effects of these are with all the chemicals they jam into them. Also, and I say this half jokingly, I am convinced they put something in these that get you hooked. I tried to quit last year, and was kind of successful for a few weeks with some cheat days, but right back on the energy drink train I went. I really wouldn't mind kicking the habit, and I don't mean to be over-dramatic about it like I'm trying to kick heroine or anything, but the caffeine habit really does burrow itself into your life.

Never be a fan of that corrupt industry. They have NO INTEREST in ever finding cures for anything. It would cost them too much money. BTW, for people who want to eliminate heartburn, you need to start increasing the stomach acid potency in your gut. The reason you get heartburn is because your stomach acid is too weak. It causes the valve that blocks acid from rising up our throat to stay open and thus we get acid and it burns the back part of our throat. Drink apple cider vinegar and you will increase stomach acidity and thus will eliminate your heartburn and improve your health overall. We go as our gut goes.

Oh and stop taking ant acids. How idiotic. They weaken the acidity in our stomach because they are high in alkaline.

True. Allopathic VS Homeopathic. Allopathic treats the symptoms. Big Pharma, Dr's etc. Homeopathic corrects the cause of the problem. High blood pressure for example is a biggie for the Allopathic crowd. They just respond by treating the high blood pressure rather than what is causing it. For anyone interested, I am a big fan of Dr. John Bergman on YouTube. He has tons of videos covering these issues and they are brilliant. Highly recommend watching his videos.

There are natural alternatives. I had my gallbladder removed back in 98 so digestion is a little more challenging for me. I chew papaya enzyme tablets and they actually taste like candy. You can get them for $10 at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. They typically come with about 250 little chewable tablets. Depending on the type of food I eat, I will chew between 1-3 with each meal. Problem solved.

Best way to drink Apple Cider Vinegar.

    1 tablespoon of ACV
    16 ounces of water
1 teaspoon of sugar or honey. I prefer honey
    1 tablespoon of cinnamon

Shake or stir and drink. Actually tastes good.

    Second way:

    1 tablespoon of ACV
    Tall glass of Orange Juice.
