DT Jasper Rejoins Eagles After 7 Years

PHILADELPHIA — Free-agent defensive tackle Ed Jasper signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, rejoining the team that drafted him in 1997.
Jasper recorded 24 tackles and two sacks with the Oakland Raiders last year. Before signing with Oakland in 2005, Jasper spent six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.
Jasper will play in a rotation at defensive tackle for the Eagles.
"For me, that is great," Jasper said. "I spent a lot of years in Atlanta playing every snap. The problem with playing every snap is, you can't play 110 percent every play if you play every snap."
Originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Eagles, the 33-year-old Jasper played two seasons with Philadelphia and appeared in 17 games. For his career, Jasper has 402 tackles and 17.5 sacks in 118 games.
