DT not DEs

Some Cowboy fans think in the Boys 3-4 D, DEs are not asked to put pressure on the QB. Well if that is the case then why does BP draft DEs? wouldnt it be cheaper and easier to fill the DE spots with DTs? whats the point in drafting a 6-7 "Athletic" DE like Canty when all you ask him to do is gain weight and eat up blocks in the run game... same with Spears, who was known for his ability to rush the passer in College, why is that type of College player needed in this D?

DTs are on the market every year and if BP really wants to run this style of D he should address the personel and get players to fit the scheme!

I know that means Spears and Canty are wasted picks but as of now what they are asked to do can be done by many vet DTs and is a waste of their talent! so why not sign some true run stuffers like Ferguson and play them at DE much like the Raiders did with Sapp a few years back...

Because right now Canty and Spears are just for show!!!!

Canty needs to watch some game film on Jason Taylor of the Fins, same height, same wing span, same position, just Jason is all over, goes from de to dt to olb.

Last I checked, Jason Taylor was a 4-3 DE, and an occasional 4-3 OLB. Canty is a 3-4 DE. Quite different positions.
