It really doesn't. There are several quality prospects.Unfortunately this draft sucks for DTs.

Depends on how you define "strong". It's not strong at the top, but very good between the mid 1st and rounds 2 and 3.I was thinking the same thing the minute they signed Watkins. This draft is not strong for DTs and the Cowboys probably figure Watkins, and now Urban, fill the need in the middle. There is no one in this draft who will make an impact on the DL in 2021. They had to sign someone. Sheldon Rankins is still out there, isn't he?
Only quality as far as this draft class goes, Still a very weak DT class. It really doesn't. There are several quality prospects.
Somewhere Jerry is smiling ear to ear reading this thread...sign 2 mediocre backups and the fans are happy. He couldn’t be doing his job any better...spend less $ than everyone while simultaneously making more
You do realise that Jerry pays 100% of the salary cap (slight variance year to year) so spends exactly the same as everybody else.

The salary cap in the nfl is barely existent at this point. Just a convenient excuse for owners that aren’t interested in winning
Unfortunately this draft sucks for DTs.
What exactly are you arguing? Dak got a huge deal a week later than that article and cash is irrelevant when it comes to the salary cap.

In my opinion, Watkins is going to fill that 4T LE in our base defense against the run. There is still room for another DT on the roster. For a month we were all drafting DTs early and often.
Dallas now has 4 DTs under contract who will all be part of the rotation: Hill, Gallimore, Woods, Watkins.
All are under 30, Woods being the oldest at 28, all 300 pounders.
I’m starting to think Dallas is unlikely to draft a DT unless it’s a late project or a guy with position flex. Very unlikely we would carry more than 4 DTs.
I heard on the draft show this week, that we really like Togiai from Ohio State. If it’s not an early selection, you already have 2nd and 3rd round DTs from the past 2 drafts. Unless we take one of the top 3-techs in Baremore, Nixon, or the Washington kid, I think it would be a much later run stuffer.
the idea that Barmore or Nixon would not make an impact this year is laughable
Depends on what you consider an impact. Game changers no. But someone that can help anchor your defense? Yes. Even if we’re just in the middle of the pack it’s the offense that’s going to have to carry the load.Derrick Brown did not make an imnpact in 2020 and he was a substantially higher regarded DT than Barmore or Nixon. The Same would be true to Kinlaw, also more highly regarded than any DT in this draft.
Here we go with our yearly excuse making for slop.
We just watched arguably the worst defense in franchise history but hey, let's bring that band back again.
To hell with Woods, Hill, Gallimore and Watkins. Get. Real. Talent.
Not arguing. Telling you that the cowboys don’t spend $ to improve the team. The cap is borderline imaginary and easily manipulated. Good teams spend ABOVE the cap. The cowboys refuse to do this and there is an obvious and direct correlation to the lack of playoff wins.
I look forward to your response that will undoubtably involve the phrase “cap hell”
AgreedI wish the Cowboys had tanked in December and ended up around #5-#7, overall, so they could trade down to #10 where they currently are at while being able to pick up an extra 2nd round pick.
Fools.
