Any of you watch it? The new season begins tonight at 8:00PM eastern. The new guy(Joseph Teti) is bad *** and was a former green beret. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this season.

I watched a few episodes, but, it's just as fake as a wresslen match.

I mean, who is recording all that experience? There are probably at least 5 other people involved with that production, so it's not really survival at all...just a show.

But, in some cases, it is interesting.

They fully admit most of it is staged. That's no secret. But it's definitely survival. On one of the different shows they had to call in to be evacuated out because one of the hosts had became ill from being exposed to the sun for too long. I mean no one expects them to put their lives on the line every time. They do as much as humanly possible though. The show is mostly for educational purposes. Cody Lundin is legit and constantly states that he does things on the show to teach people things and won't to things that people shouldn't do in a survival situation. The two personalities are what make it interesting.

This is a letter he wrote to fans...(I know I sound like a nerd right now)

Survival on TV
By Cody Lundin
I thought long and hard before writing the contents of this page as I knew it would piss some people off. In the end, my obligation as a survival instructor is to tell it as I see it, consequences be damned.

Another reason I chose to put this in writing is the onslaught of people asking me what I think about the survival shows on television. Instead of spouting out another one liner, or taking time, (again) to explain the details of the situation, I’m putting my opinion down here for all to read and accept or reject as they see fit.

Here are some important points to consider, as it’s in them that I’ve based my opinion. First, realize that I don’t watch TV. I consider the lion’s share of programming to be a waste of time. Second, I have participated in a lot of television over the years both on and off camera. I know what producers want and how the game works. Third, I am intimately acquainted with the realities of survival skills based upon years of “doing it” in the field with and without students. Thus, due to my level of experience, it’s not difficult for me to figure out if “something survival” is faked or embellished on TV – and I myself have done the faking on more than one occasion.*

Sounds like a perfect candidate for membership here! :muttley:

Any links? I'm not finding anything on that. I like the show and dave, but Cody makes that show. Watching the bare-foot crazy hippie dishing out survival tips is awesome.

I just watched the primer, and the saw the new guy kill that hog. The guy is a fool, that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on television. Throughout the entire primer, he just came off like an idiot.

You know there's something wrong when the bare foot hippie is telling you it's stupid to drink your own pee and you insist on doing it anyway.

So much of what the guy did seemed like he was doing it for the camera. Not that Dave was much better, but I mean come on.

Mykel Hawke has a similar background, and I've never seen him do half the dumb crap I saw this fool do in one preview show. They should have brought him in instead. I don't think the new guy is doing special forces any favors at all.

Beat me to it.
