1. Aaron Donald, Beast
This guy would be an absolute monster for Marinelli. This is about as a perfect fit as your going to find for this defense. Not much else needs to be said about this pick.

2. Marcus Smith, DE
I really like this guys burst and hustle. I would use him as a situational pass rusher at first to spell Ware and Selvie. On passing downs you could slide Selvie inside and put Smith on the outside. Seattle did this kind of thing all season and it works very well.

3. Dion Bailey, S
I would love to have Brooks or Ward here but no way they make it out of the 2nd round. I would not be oppossed to trading back into the second to get one of them. However, Bailey brings some tools to the table that the Cowboys currently have none of at the safety position and that is instincts. Not many college DB's play with the intelligence and awareness that this guy does. He reminds of a Sean Lee type of player but at safety. He only has slightly above average athleticism but he reads and reacts so quickly he often is the one making the play. He can play some man but is a very good zone player. He understands the zone concept, reads the QB'S eyes, and breaks on the ball. We have no DB on the current roster that does that with consistency.

4. Brandon Thomas, G/T
Thomas is a very good fit for this offense. He is a smart, strong, and has the quick feet the Cowboys look for in offensive lineman. He played very well against Clowney last season and is drawing comparisons to Brian Waters. I think he could potentially go in the 2nd round but for now he is rated as a 3-5th round pick.

5. Calvin Barnett, DT
I really like Barnett and I think he could be a dynamic 1 tech here for the Cowboys. The guy plays with heart, is strong but still has above average quickness off the snap. If you watch his college tape, he's got a little bit of Jay Ratliff to him.

7. De'Anthony Thomas, RB
I have a hard time seeing this guy fall to the 7th but I guess we'll play the game here. This dude is electric and we have nobody on the roster that can move like this kid. Please don't try to ram Dunbar down my throat because other than one good game, the guy has done nothing except fumble and get hurt.

7. Kirby Van Der Kamp, P
Chris Jones was ok but we can do better here for sure. Spending a 7th on a punter with a lot of potential is a low risk/high reward kind of deal.

So there you have it. Swing away ladies and gentleman!

Cant see Donald at 17. Bailey was nicked up alot at USC. Cant see using a pick on a punter. OTOH like 2, 4. 5 and 7 alot.

The thing about Baily, IMO, is going to be how he times. He's not a great tackler so it's going to really be important for him to show some speed and agility IMO. He doesn't have to be world class but he has to show he has some physical skills to be a FS in the Pros.

He can play but hurt in college usually means, more hurt in pro. I really think with as deep as this draft is (Steeler GM said deepest in 30 years) this team really needs three sure fire starters, and guys with injury histories make me leary, particularly first 3 rounds.

It's a consideration, for sure. As I said earlier, I think he slides.

I don't agree with this. Bailey is not a hitter but he's a smart tackler. Did you see him undercut blockers to make a tackle? I haven't seen to many players tackle like that. It's a smart move because obviously a 210 pound safety is going to have problems shedding a block from a TE or OL.

He relies on technique and understanding where he needs to position himself and that's OK but he's not a SS IMO. He will have to play FS and in the NFL, he's going to have to be able to cover the deep thirds. I think he has to show some agility. He can't be slow and play FS in the NFL IMO, no matter how good your technique is.

He has had some injuries but I wouldn't call Bailey injury prone. He played every game except for 2 in 3 years at USC.

I understand and I hope he times well because he is a player that comes up with big time plays.

Thank you for your comments but why not Donald at 17?

He is a scheme specific guy for a scheme and a coaching staff I dont expect to be here in 2015. Maybe, and that is a maybe high 20's or low 30s, not at 17.

Well the front office isn't going anywhere and they are committed to running the 4-3. Donald would fit in any 4-3 defense in the league and some hybrid defenses as well. Name me 1 DT in this draft who was more disruptive than Donald.

Bailey is a SS all the way.

Give me Jimmie Ward in the 2nd round.

I don't really see that in his game. You would think that he could play SS with his size and the fact that he played OLB earlier in his career but I just don't really see it in him. He doesn't really like to deliver the hit. At SS, I think he will miss a lot of tackles and give up too many yards after contact.

Ward is interesting.

No way, his skills do not translate well to the SS position. He looks like a FS to me. Please stop thinking about 40 times, Heath and Wilcox both have above average atheletism and we liabilities. Give me the smart guy who watches the QB and plays the ball.

I read Duda mock and couldn't wait to get in here and dog pile on Lucas Duda with a little Ike Davis mixed in!

Anyways, not sure if those are the right players but I do like the positions addressed in the first six rounds but would think about switching out the RB for a WR.
