Duke Manyweather on Tyler Guyton

Tyler was at a disadvantage last season and hopefully now he has everything he needs to leap closer to his potential. I'm not opposed to drafting Simmons as I believe he's the best OT in the draft. These guys have 3 OL coaches, so I just believe they'll put together a decent OL group with all the bodies they have right now.

What knowledge?
Proves my point, kingcockroach, you don't know anything about me. Other that, I'm not a miserable hater, looking to piss on anyone's positivity and just hanging around here to have a good time. Things like you is what has been bringing this place down. Then again, I'll give you a pass, you probably spent the holiday weekend by yourself, after all, who would want to be around all your negativity. Life of the party? Lol

Evidently, Manyweather has a poor opinion of Guyton's mental preparation to be a starter at LT. Maybe that calls for consideration of devoting another pick for a different starter at that position.

I’m in the minority, but I saw a lot of the positives with Guyton his rookie season to go along with the negatives.

We knew he was gonna be raw. I expect him to make a jump. That said, I don’t know what’s going on in the building and his practice habits, work ethic, and/or willingness to train.

I wouldn’t be against taking Simmons if his knee checks out or Membou if they think he’s a walk-in starter. LT is such a critical piece of a functional offense that I don’t mind if we keep using resources until we get it right.

GREAT post.

But Simmons and Membou will both be gone by 12. Shame Simmons hurt his knee. He was easily a top 5 pick or higher.

Here are things that will happen:

Guyton will start at LT
Tyler will start at LG
Beebe will start at C

And Steele will start at RT

NOW how things shape out this year with that all happening is going to be interesting

At the college level he and his body seemed more in tune.
At the pro level on Sundays at LT he appeared as some just born animals do when they are first learning to walk. And understanding their legs underneath themselves.

His switch from the right to left side college to pro transition, along with all the feet, technique and maturity issues are not a good foundation.
Regardless if he checks all the boxes on a physical traits checklist.
Needs a massive leap to be an adequate LT.
I'm doubtful.

Tyler can't pass protection. It is what it is, and it's not the first time this team fumbles their round #1 pick.
