I think he will be there in a year or two fulltime.

Greg is going to be 32 and Al is I think right around there too.

Only way Carp stays inside is if James leaves via FA.

I've been scratching my head at this move since it happened.

Okay, you put Ellis on the edge and back him up with Als. What?

Greg Ellis is not a career OLB. He is, what, 30? He has maybe one or two good years there, if that. Hell, the guy might wear down at the position over the course of the season. We just don't know. And Singleton is not a starter.

So why split a job between two that could be done by one man, aka Carp? And to put him BEHIND a guy you just signed for like $25 mil? How the hell is he going to develop there? And what message are you sending to Akin?

Bobby is young. He is athletic... much moreso than either Ellis or Singleton. Maybe he has to go through a year learning the position like Ware did - they all have to do it at some point or another. Moving him to the inside is not a bad move in itself, but the personnel around him makes it absolutely baffling to me.

Carpenters sheer size, and ability to fight off blocks. His ability to blitz inside, and his intelligence and ability to play multiple positions will make him a dominant player in a couple of years.

I don't think his burst is superior, but his knack for slicing through traffic is something they could use in the middle. Also, playing inside will allow him to get playing time this year. It will allow him to come in on 3rd down or nickel situations.

And lastly, Ellis has done a great job. Patience my friends patience. I believe he is destined for greatness, let's let it play out.

At who's expense? Dominant players don't split time with big-money free agent pick ups. Either way, the Cowboys have set themselves up to fail with either Ayodele or Carpenter by putting them both in the same spot.

Doesn't mean he's going to stay there, and doesn't mean Ayodele is going to stay inside. Ayodele is a natural OLB I believe, and so those parts can be interchangable. The bottom line is, Parcells has a plan for him.

I just saw this.

He would and should get 10x more playing time if they kept him outside. Singleton will have to split mondo time with Ellis as it is... if that was Carpenter instead of Als? Psshh... he'd be on the field almost every other down.

There are no dumb questions. Only dumb askers.
