Dust off the old Quincy Carter playbook...

We ran almost a WCO style offense under Quincy. I think that's what we'll see if Romo starts from this week on. An offense that doesn't ask the QB to win the game, but puts him in manageable situations with playaction pass bootlegs and rollouts. Hopefully that will cut down on the stupid, desperation mistakes we saw tonight. And I do think Romo is much more accurate than Quincy, and he has more talented players to get the ball too.

I think that's the plan too, dumb it down

hope the running game can get back on track, that will really enhance the bootlegs, rollouts, and playaction passes

just hope Romo can throw deep, teams will be clogging that middle before too long

They'll dumb it down a bit. But I think it's pretty obvious that Romo is the more accurate passer of the 2, so I dont think the change will be that drastic.

question - why were we not dumming it down for Drew after opening day?

i just don't see a big change... tuna was letting Drew throw at the 1 yard line instead of running and letting the clock tick down before half... mindboggling.

Was thinking the same thing as soon as Romo got in the game tonight.

Not sure its a bad thing,

I'm not sure its a bad thing either. We probably won't see as many Terry Glenn 40+ yard passes as we've seen the first part of the season, but that style of offense will probably be suit TO, Witten and Fasano better.

Even Parcells said something to that effect after the disaster of 2004. We just ran into a pile and threw the ball in a very controlled way in 2003 and we got away from it in 04 because he thought we had enough talent to do so. We were 10-6 in 2003 and went 6-10 in 2004.

Ball control and TOP is not a bad thing. Playing it safe and keeping it close isn't a bad thing either. My only concern is that I don't think this defense is playing well enough to keep us close like the 03 defense did.

I dont think its a coincidence that Romo spreads the ball alot better than Bledsoe. He actually makes fast reads.

I'll take our chances with Romo out there, rather than waiting for the inevitably, Bledsoe failing under pressure, time and time again.

I was thrilled to see the Invisible man back in the game once Romo got in.

That may be the answer, but when Romo came in, it seemed that they opened the playbook alot more than when Bledsoe was in there..............

And because they did not need to leave extra blockers in, Witten actually got involved in the offense.

I don't think they will dumb the offense down, but they will make it more tailored to fit Romo's abilities.

romo was working the TEs better in a half than drew bledsoe has all season.

why? because they didn't have to stay in on max-protect for tony like they must for drew.

and wasn't that the whole point of the two-TE attack we were supposed to be moving to before we realized bledsoe needed a babysitter on all passing downs?

we can still pull this off. no team has a better corp of receivers than the cowboys. i believe this with all my heart.

we just need a guy who can deliver the ball in the face of a rush - and tony romo can be that guy. he needs some reps but the talent is obvious. what's obvious is that bledsoe will NEVER be that guy.

stay wwith him tuna. he may yet bail your a** out.

There's another intangible here that I think everyone is missing.

Romo has a lot of moxy. The offense seems to have more pep around Romo than with Bledsoe. They seem to rally around him better.

I don't know if it's the adrenaline he brought out because it was his first big start, but I saw the same thing during preseason and when he came in during the Texans game.

I think given the time, he really could bail Bill Parcells out. The question is will Bill stick with the kid next week.

Kind of hard play ball control when the defense keeps giving up big plays.
