DVD burning question

Actually, I'm copying a homemeade DVD. The problem with both the copy I made and the original is, while they will play on my computer and my portable DVD player, they will not play on the DVD player hooked to my TV.

Says 'Error' cannot read.

What's up with that?

(I believe the original is in 'PAL' format...figured if I burned it it'd work on my TV)

Sometimes some stand alone DVD players (ones you hook up to your tv) will not play some of the DVDs you make on a computer.

I had two older ones that would NOT play the dvds I made on my computer. I went and got a new, cheap one, and it plays the same dvds that would not play on my older, more expensive, dvd players.

It is something with the newer formats used in making DVDs on your puter.

Take your DVD, find a friend who has a new dvd player, and see if it will play on theirs. You might have to try different brands as well.

Your Pal/NTCS version can have something to do with it as well...one is mostly for american use, the other is for European.

Try this product....You can use it for 21 days free to see if you like it..

I use the AnyDVD/HD( for breaking DVD protection) and CloneDVD for burning.( Used for nearly 3 years )

There isn't a DVD I can't copy and burn. You also get lifetime free updates.

Any time I rent a DVD I copy it....:laugh1: I just copied "No Country for Old Men " and "I am Legend" last night ...

Good program, don't forget DVD Decrypter, but I don't think copyright is at issue here so those programs shouldn't matter. Like others have said, it's probably an issue with the DVD player not being able to read that particular type of recordable media, or something to do with the PAL. I'm going to say it's most likely the DVD player.

Ok....thanks for the info.

I guess I should have titled the thread 'why doesn't my DVD work on all my players?'.

I've had no problems copying the DVD...just playing it on the one player. Seeing how it's the oldest one I presently own, likw BP states, it probably isn't up to snuff on reading newer or different codes.
